Loosely based on the events of the Throckmorton plot to overthrow Queen Elisabeth I leading onto the bond of association (or in this case the bond of attraction) and then the Babington plot. This is a retelling of these events to help you with revision although many creative liberties have been taken (including Babington and Throckmorton being in a homosexual relationship.

A Second Self is Lori Callan's debut novel. This fictional account dives deep into a fascinating woman's psyche; Elizabeth I's impossible decisions; and the profound personal cost of those decisions. When a throne requires more than all one woman has to offer, what happens to the human being behind the crown? How is Elizabeth I - one of the most celebrated English Tudor monarchs - a marginalized character in her own story?Perhaps it has something to do with her mother, Anne Boleyn's execution when Elizabeth is just a toddler. Each mother figure, from governess to lady-in-waiting to stepmother will leave Elizabeth alone to fend for herself. Her forty-five year reign sees her gentlemen advisors concerned mainly with mating her, so a King can replace her. And what of her staggering personal sacrifice? Passion, love, genuine friendship, even her own identity - all pushed aside for a crown. Maybe the unrelenting solitude pushes her to the margins - the inevitable isolation accompanying Elizabeth I's desire to reign as only the second Queen in England's history. For Elizabeth I, is the cost of a royal wedding simply too high?

"Though Shakespeare bids his last sonnet, his presence is ignited by these pieces, and hither I am-With his words, roots, and blood, we represent greatness." ━━━━━ As Shakespeare visited our dreams, a synopsis of the journey began to sprout, from a seedling of a single drop of ink to a beanstalk of masterpieces, each leaf containing great works and masteries that each of the writers enjoyed, put effort into, and gave their all to write. Shakespeare enlightened us and told us to write more; he even told us and compared two of his most phenomenal characters, Romeo and Juliet, who both died at the end of their romantic story. This set is an agglomeration and collection of works inspired by the style and topics of how Shakespeare wrote his poems, which are: what it means to be a man; conflict; corruption; transformation; order and disorder; loyalty; appearance and reality; guilt; sin; and retribution. A set of poems written in Shakespearean English typography, also known as Elizabethan English, a set of realization and brilliance.

Originally a part of The Mermaid Stair (Crooked Cat, 2014) I was so fond of this scene, but it had to go in the interest of pacing and so on. But it's too much fun to waste. Please feel free to comment, Like, vote, and so on.

When I found my one true love, I did not expect everything to go quite this badly. ========================================= Running. Running with her. From them. I hear the howl of a wolf and we speed up, only to stop when we come across a deep ravine. No way to cross. A snaking river at the bottom. I turn to my newlywed wife and kiss her. She grabs my bandaged hand and steps up to the edge. I follow her. I trust her with my life. The wolves are getting closer. "I love you," I say. "I love you too, Cath," she responds. We jump. ========================================= Catherine Grenville is a young elizabethan girl unlike the others. She likes girls. Raised by her father after her mother dies giving birth to her, Catherine is left with a single, closed-off parent. On the day of her seventeenth birthday, her best friend, a young man, proposes to her. But she doesn't want to tie herself down to someone she will never love. So she runs off into the depths of her house. And what she finds there will change her worlds. Forever.

This story is part of an anthology, and I'll just be including a sample of it. Here's how it goes- England, Yuletide 1585 The dice have been loaded against Mistress Julia Wentworth. Little wonder she no longer trusts a soul-except for the street urchin she rescued. Having fallen in love with-and been abandoned by-a murderous traitor, Julia's been turned out by her family and left to scrape what living she can on the brutal London streets. When a goose strays into her yard, it looks as if she'll at least have something to feast on at Christmas. Exploding back into her life in pursuit of his goose is Myall Farrar, a scarred clerk estranged from his miserly father. Myall can't afford to lose the bird for which he's scrimped and saved, because his sister's future depends upon putting on a good show at Christmas. Are Myall and Julia too greatly changed to rekindle the spark between them? Is there any hope of goodwill within their families? And-perhaps more importantly-will the goose prove itself worth saving from the butcher's knife?

The world of poetry and literature have taken a downfall. When you think back to Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Rainer Maria Rilke, William Blake(my personal favorite), there has been a drastic change. Yes, over time change is expected, but I believe we can all agree that the (what I call) "Elizabethan" wording and word choice is the most elegant. With this being said, I challenge you to write about an inanimate object every day. You can use whatever type of wording you want. You can make it a ballad of how a chair became the setting of an old man's last breath, or anything you can find. Good luck to you all and please send me the link to your poetry in my comments. Also I edit and critique, just inbox me the title and genre and I will tell you what I would like in return. Thank you so much! Cover By @Nanabanana110
