It is 1413 in London, England, where women are treated unfairly, people are poor, and the kingdom has troubles with neighboring countries. For years little girls have been stolen off of the streets of London, never to be seen again. Men have been assassinated right before everyone's eyes. The king believes that spies from France are committing these crimes. Neither spies nor common thieves have been the ones doing the deeds. The actions have been done by women in the town, who simply want to protect all the daughters from being abused by the controlling men. They hide among the people as hardly a suspect to the kingdom. Camilla Moraine has been part of the group ever since she was a child. She does not question the motives of her mother, the leader, for she has witnessed the brutality of men over the years. When an incident on the street causes her to be recognized by no one other than the prince, she and the rest of the women are in danger of being sought out. Meanwhile a battle is about to rage between England and France, all over the assassinations and kidnapping. It is either they give themselves up and face immediate death, or cause a war that will leave thousands slaughtered.
