It's been the end of the world for about a hundred years now, give or take. A magical apocalypse something or other, and nothing is the way you and I remember it. Except for a Starbucks. There's always a Starbucks, even when there's no world to advertise to anymore. And in that Starbucks lives a quiet, bookish wreck named Kona. His life is thrown into disarray when a robbery gone awry gives him a chance to find his father, the man controlling the world. And maybe, he might be able to put the world back. Or get himself and his knew friends killed trying.

Rainsford Alezand is not a magician. In fact, he doesn't believe in magic. To him, everything can be explained with science, even instinct. But what Rainsford doesn't realize is that one doesn't simply find magic. Magic finds them. --- Written for Fantasmical 2024.

Especially since the mists between the worlds have been torn loose, causing the Fae's spells to be wobbly and unreliable, not just because of their whims. Opiliodas has spent most of her spiderling-hood cooped up in her mentor's study, devouring spell tomes, weaving her favorite spells into her own, and seeing the world beyond her forest colony through chronicles on silken pages.
