The Lake Series stories, originally called the Drownings is a series of short stories related to another series of books called the Lake series. It is the stories of the 6 girls who make up members of the family affected by a lake near their home, though they are not the only ones to have had a relationship with the lake.

During his young childhood, Gariga was always told to never wander into the forest right next to his house. Folk-lore says that once inside the woods, a wild beast-like creature attacks you and drags you deep into the woods to never be seen again. As Gariga grows older, he puts that tale to the test and takes a trip inside.

"Up in the mountains where the tall grass grows There’s a little small hut protected by crows. And up in the hut lives lady fox queen You better watch out she’s really keen. Down in the valley, she likes to stay there You’ll see her in the morning, approach her if you dare. Don’t say we didn't warn you, my dear friend, If you go towards her and it will be the end…"

These mysterious beings, it is said, walk among us by day as ordinary humans, only to transform into wolves by night, their wild spirits unleashed as their human forms lie soundly asleep. Kiyoko, a smart and inquisitive teenage boy, stumbles upon a secret that will change his life forever. One fateful night, driven by an unexplainable urge, Kiyoko sneaks out of his urban home and ventures into the nearby forest. There, under the haunting light of the moon, he encounters a lone wolf. Startled and in defence, the wolf bites him before disappearing into the depths of the forest. Kiyoko returns to the city, shaken and bewildered.
