What happens inside your mind when no one is watching? Egoberto lives like anyone else - he works, talks, reflects, tries to understand the world around him. But inside his mind, things are far from quiet. There are voices. Impulses. Judgments. Conflicting forces that argue, provoke, and push him in different directions. We do what we can... is a psychological and emotional journey through the inner life of a man trying to find balance between desire, guilt, reason, and acceptance. Told with subtle irony and deep honesty, this story explores what it means to be human - not perfect, not resolved, but constantly becoming. Because in the end... we are all just doing what we can.

Kermit the Frog must assassinate Sigmund Freud. Garfield is also there. Will they succeed? This came from an activity in my friend's literary club. She told us to open a random book and point to a random line on a random page, and whatever line we landed on was the line we'd use to open a short story. I used "Of Mice and Men" and got the line, "Tell you what. I'll shoot him for you. Then it won't be you that does it." Oh boy. This happened.

In Caelora, the sleepless city where thought shapes matter, Psychomancy turns psychology into sorcery. The mind is creation's core: emotion fuels energy, belief defines reality, and theory governs law. Six Houses divide this science of the psyche-Freuden summons the repressed, Skinnera commands behavior, Maslowen ascends through desire, Piageta reconstructs cognition, Jungian wields archetypes, and Bandura mirrors all. Elion Vahr joins the Institute not to master power, but to heal it. Years ago, his sister Lira vanished mid-ritual, her consciousness scattered into the Collective Unconscious. When a wave of shared delusions begins twisting Caelora-time looping, minds merging, reality folding in on thought-Elion suspects her disappearance and the city's unraveling are one and the same. A forbidden manuscript, The Theory of Everything Human, suggests that all Houses are fragments of a single dreaming mind-and that someone once tried to make it whole. As Elion deciphers its equations, reality bends to his fears. To find Lira, he must descend into the Global Unconscious, where disorders take physical form: Depression as endless dusk, Anxiety as a devouring maze, Narcissism as a hall of mirrors. Each layer brings him closer to the truth-that Lira may not be lost, but awake within the dream that birthed them all. In a civilization built on the study of the self, Elion must decide: to save his sister, will he heal the dream-or finish it? *** Note: This will be published in Royal Road, too, under the username @gemeinschaftgefuhl, so stay tuned!
