This is a play about the legendary archer Eklavya that I wrote back in seventh grade for a school project. It's based on a small yet significant part of the great Indian epic, Mahabharata. Even if you don't have any idea about Indian epics, this is pretty simple, though I definitely encourage delving into India's mythohistory.

Bhanumati's tale spoken like a memoir to her children. To remind them that, despite what the world says, their father was a good man, somewhere in him, he was a good man. The forgotten queen of Mahabharatha. Duryodhana's wife. The tragedy of being the villain's love. ******** The world will call your father the villain, and I will not stop them. Let them. The stories are not false, and I have no wish to cleanse his sins with my tears. But this my children, I write this for you to know that the man Ved Vyaasa wrote of was not the man I loved. My life has been endlessly filled with jasmines, beautiful, fragrant and fated to wilt.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dharma was the cloth I held closest. I was draped in dharma. No one could ever take that from me. No amount of pulling and tugging had done that. Even in the depths of despair I had held on to it like a last cloth. I had dedicated my life to dharma. Dharma and Draupadi would be forever synonymous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The daughter of Draupad, The wife of the Pandavas, The sakhi of Shri Krishna , The emperess of Indhraprastha , The queen of Mahabharatha

If Draupadi was only Arjun's wife.. would all the discrepancies of the Great Epic have been sorted out? If polyandry wasn't prevalent would have polygamy worsened the relation between these two lovely souls? Keeping the story quite similar to the original Mahabharat , this story unites Arjun and Draupadi beyond this barrier called polyandr y. However the other wives of Arjun are prevalent, Indraprasth is there..... Just Draupadi is as torn as ever... Can her eternally beloved Arjun get to the core of her heart once more by breaking all the cold walls that she has put up around herself to protect herself from any further heartbreaks....? What follows next, when they finally start discovering their true identities and responsibilities.... as a long buried truth from the past is finally revealed..? EXCERPT: "His eyes comprehended her as an abrupt and blindingly bright streak of lightning in an oddly overcast sky, that doesn't only shine, but lights up its surroundings with an inexplicably powerful aura; spreads a kind of warm haze of light and brightness, that blinds each onlooker, burns anything that it falls on; except for the thunderstorm itself. It charges up the storm, gives it more power, announces its arrival to the world. In turn, the storm attaches the crackling thunder to even its own name, promising it company till the end of eternity, since before the beginning of time. And, it doesn't blind and burn the Earth; because the Earth was destined to receive its power. The Earth relishes in its blessing touch, flaunts the grace of the fiery streak to not have burnt it down. He knew, that was exactly what he was feeling. He was feeling like the storm; blessed to have glanced at her. He felt, just like the storm -- as if she was his companion in the unfulfilled duties. As if they were destined to remove these dark clouds together and let the world see a new day of light and hope." 🥈Morpankh Awards 2021 (Category - ArDi)
