In A World Between Us, two cultures clashes and love is challenged in the vibrant heart of New York City. The determined writer from the Philippines, Maya Hernandez, leaves her life in Manila for New York because she craves adventure and new opportunities. While she cherishes her Filipino heritage and family traditions, the overwhelming city feels daunting and alien to her. One fateful afternoon, she meets an equally charming, Irish American architect, Liam O'Reilly, and a spark ignites between the two. As their love develops, they also face the challenges of an interracial relationship. Maya and Liam have to adjust to each other's cultures as they seek a way to be with each other in light of remorseless family and tradition opposition. Both face internal conflict in their love as they try to navigate through the expectations of their separate worlds, each wondering how far the love can go in overcoming cultural barriers. This sensitive narrative illustrates the challenges as well as the pleasures of building a life with another person whose culture and values are different from one's own. Therefore, A World Between Us is the story of courage, reconciliation as well as the power of love, which is capable of overcoming even the widest chasms of civilization.

It may be a small town. But it has its many secrets. ----------------------------- "It is you," Ava responded. "I knew that I was not crazy! I knew that portal was open!" "Portal?" I repeated the word. "Go away, Ava," Cindy told her. "I will personally take you home if you want. For now, leave us alone." She gripped the side of the door and only closed it halfway when Ava reached out and grabbed her wrist. "Not this time, Cindy. Not this time!" "Release her, Ava! Or so help me, I will kick you in the guts!" I warned. "Caleb?!" a familiar voice called to me. I looked past Ava - and saw Cindy! ----------------------------- If you like adventure, mystery, humor, or cliffhangers, then this is the book for you! Cover: Recolor Copyright by Ash J. I've been wanting to make a list of things that are new to me when I arrived in the US. Culture shock is not an unusual occurrence in someone's life when they visit a foreign country. I'm willing to share my experiences here. I know that comparing the Philippines (a third-world country) from America (a first-world country) isn't a wise thing to do as they are too different from each other in many aspects. However, we can't ignore the cultural differences between the two countries. I won't criticize the differences in any of the countries rather commend the positive ones and be more understanding with the ones that aren't pleasant to follow. America is the first foreign country that I've been to and there are things here that I wished the Philippines implemented. I will tell you beforehand that there are hundreds of laws, rules and restrictions here that I find ridiculous and there are some that I'm glad they have here. I believe that without laws, a country is doomed to a more chaotic system. People are disciplined and the system is organized if a country is strictly implementing laws. It's just funny when they claim America is the land of free that has hundreds of laws, rules and restrictions! No wonder people break them as they are free to do it. Never condone it, though! It is said that people in America break laws in a day. They don't get arrested to some of them, pay fine when get caught or just get away with it. However, I commend how the country is organized (especially the traffic laws) and most of the people are disciplined. So, here are some of the differences that I observed living in the US for 2 years. Be reminded that I asked my husband for clarification and a more detailed explanation about a certain law and tradition. Yuchae Moon 28Jun2021
