[COMPLETED] On the seemingly endless cliff face of the Dawnwall, one wrong step means a long fall and a slow death. In a place where airships fill the sky and cities rest in alcoves of stone, a fear of heights is an embarrassing affliction, not that Aelyn Ellis will ever admit it. At fifteen years old the young shepherd is perfectly content spending his life buried in books, studying swashbuckling adventure from the comfort of a wool-cushioned chair. Unfortunately, as it is said on the Dawnwall, no one is above that which lies below. It is a cold and windless morning when Aelyn's non-paternal grandfather dies in an accident at the town's pier. Without a will, Aelyn loses everything: his home, his flock, and his library. Aelyn is left with only the clothes on his back and a single book in his pocket, a book that holds a dangerous secret. Burdened with the knowledge of a treasure unlike any other, Aelyn makes the choice to face his fear, setting forth on a voyage across the high-skies. Pursued by bloodthirsty sky pirates and haunted by ghostly apparitions, Aelyn must band together with a crew of privateers to unlock the secret of a fortune so valuable it could change the future... and the past.

Six months ago, the Azure Colossus rose and cracked a city of three million like an egg. The world's still reeling. Locke took a bump and lost three years of his own life he can't remember. Now he's part of the crew of the Halcyon Days, the fastest ship in the sky. They run odd jobs, dodge debts, and try not to get shot down more than once a week. Captain Kaliston makes it look easy. First mate Valentine makes it actually work. And Kenzie, the girl Locke definitely doesn't have a crush on, makes it look like she's not watching everyone's tells. The Colossus is still out there. So is the zealot prince who woke it. But that's a problem for people with fewer creditors. ...Right? Inspired by Final Fantasy's airships, crystals, and found families. If you like banter, skyship chases, and warmth between the explosions, this is for you. This is a preview of the published novel, including all of Act 1. When humanity reached the golden age of industrialization, we prospered greatly. Towering monuments were built to commemorate our many everlasting achievements brought upon by the new era of metal and steam. Sprawling cities covered the Earth like blankets of iron and steel, but it was not to last. The darkness of war consumed humanity in a raging fury. Ash spewed into the air, smoke filling the skies. Cities burned with the flames of loss and destruction, refugees fleeing to the safety of the mountains as thousands of aircraft swarmed the heavens, the bombs falling upon the towering monuments. When the last guns fell silent, soldiers leaving the final battlefield, an even darker shadow had enveloped humanity. The burning fire of innovation, nothing more than glowing embers of a once glorious past. To the south, a king leads a dying race of engineers. To the west, the Ombak Warriors live leaderless, praying for a Commander that would never return home. To the east, the Atlas navigators of the eastern steppes protect the last of nature's dwindling life. And to the north, a forgotten nobility rules a lost kingdom, never to be remembered again. Then, in the darkest shadow, humanity's spark of inspiration flickered to life. Bringing with it, a new dawn. The Dawn of the Skies. But it doesn't matter, because even after all our achievements, nothing will be remembered by history, and the Age of the Skies shall be forgotten, forever. Unless you read this book, and pass on the legend.

In the shattered world of Regius, great skyships traverse the expanses of open air between the inhabited fragemns, or islands in the sky. Pirates prowl the airways, preying on merchant ships and any unlucky enough to cross their path. Aboard one such pirate ship, the young swashbuckler, Gideon, sails the sky plundering along with the rest of his crewmates. That is, until one day when he comes across the ship of a princess on a perilous, secret mission to save her kingdom and the fate of Regius itself. Gideon decides to joins the princess in her quest. Cutthroat brigands, Armadas of warships, terrifying storms, shadowy enemies, and treachery from all corners threaten to throw him off of his path and into the swirling abyss of the sky. This is still very much a work in progress, and, as such, will even contain some notes to myself occasionally in parentheses for changes that I haven't yet implemented. Thanks for understanding.
