A man wakes up after being rescued not knowing who he is or where he is from. His entrance into this world was everything but common. The world is strange and magical. A mystery of his origins must be eventually found out and to see if he could ever regain or return to what was lost. This is an original Character origin story set in the campaign world of Exandria. Written by Mathew Mercer for his campaign world for the hit series Critical Role. Explorer's Guide to WildeMount published by Wizards of the Cost and Critical Role. As well as the Critical Role Web series will be used as reference material. There is no plans at this time to include the main story Characters,The Mighty Nien, or Vox Machina. Knowledge of Critical Role or Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Is not necessary to enjoy this story. But would be beneficial. This is my story set in a world I fell in love with. I hope you will join me on this journey and as I attempt to write a great story. Of a man who searches for meaning and purpose in a foreign world. A fire genasi tries to make coin in town with her fathers, in the hopes of buying a new cart, lest they be left behind, but she gets much more than she bargains for. A story based in the Homebrew Continent of Esura, created by my fiancee, Kai, and set in the larger world of Exandria featured on Critical Role and created by Matthew Mercer. An anthology I created over the course of a few years after a deep obsession with The Mighty Nein. Kess, a young man trying to carve out a meaningful existence for himself in Wildemount, experiences the highs and lows every corner of the continent had to offer. Trying to maintain his integrity and sanity in a world of corrupt or misguided governments and other powerful organizations against all odds. The chapters will start off following a mostly straight timeline but may get messy as I wrote each chapter at various points of my life completely out of order. Coinciding and inevitably following along with the plot of The Mighty Nein, with plenty of dark, romantic, lustful, and difficult moments with a handful of preestablished characters. Kess is a human, starting in his late teens all the way to his mid to late twenties, his journey of being taken advantage of as he works to become a self established mage. (Battle Smith Artificer with some sprinkles of Dunamantic Wizard) Finding a purpose in his life, learning to have faith and rebuild trust in strangers he find wiggling their way into his life. This story is for me and me alone, but I have some pride in it and wish to condense all my scattered writings into one coherent book. Any comments, praise, or critiques are welcome but will not have any major effect on my writing. Disclaimer that I am not an export on the lore Critical Role has built for Exandria, I do my best to stay true to the material but take liberties for the sake of the story I wish to tell. That being said, the only thing I claim ownership of is Kess himself. Everything from the characters to the world itself belongs to those with much better creativity, imagination, and have put more effort into all of Exandria than I ever have. Critical Role has been a major inspiration to me and my writing career, and I would never wish to discredit all they have accomplished and created. Enjoy the reading. -XtraSass

Set in the world of Exandria, created by Matt Mercer and the fantastical minds of Critical Role, this noncanonical adventure takes place over the series of all three campaigns. Based in the view point of outsider adventurers during the ascendance of some of Exandria's favorite legendary heroes. These misfits among misfits must overcome not just the mission before them, but they're own self-deception, ego, and the near impossible task of learning how you view yourself may not be reflected in the reality of your past and the choices you make." So this a book I plan on publishing piece meal over a period of time. I'm a fan of TTRPG, and in reflection of that, I will publish it a "session" at a time. For those who are unfamiliar with TTRPG, every night you meet up with everyone is a session where you guys go over a portion of a chapter within the campaign. So instead of promising a whole chapter at a time I will try and publish a "session" at a time. Other than those things I hope you guys enjoy it and even though the publication of these sessions might be somewhat sporadic I will do my best to be involved in the comments and respond when appropriate. Best friends have a hold on each other stronger than any other oath in the world. Or so thought Basil and Alfur who would rather die than leave each other's side. Until a single choice changes their worlds and what they decided to split apart, fate brought back together. This is a small collection of stories for two D&D characters I made to live in the Exandria universe for a friend's campaign. Basil's story went to Strixhaven and Alfur ended up as an NPC in a separate story. Categorically, I suppose it's some sort of Critical Role universe fanfiction, however the lore is based off of how my friend runs her Wildemount campaign and not the show.
