*For the purpose of this story, the characters from the Gaang have been aged up slightly. Putting Zuko at 20, Katara at 19 and Aang at 17*
An AU where Katara ends up with Zuko instead of Aang. This story takes place right after the events of ATLA. We follow Zuko as he navigates the intricacies of becoming the youngest fire-lord in history. Feeling bound by the weight that now rests on his shoulders, he begins posing as the Blue Spirit in an attempt to feel weightless once more. All the while, he seeks solace and advice from his good friend Katara, who is also struggling with the responsibilities of being the avatar's fiancé. Feeling as if she's losing her sense of identity, she begins masquerading as the Painted Lady in an effort to do more than just stand in Aang's shadow.
(This is a fan work. I do not claim ownership to any of these characters nor their world and lore. This story will stray from the original comics as well, in favor of pursuing the potential of a romance between Katara and Zuko and the impact that course of action could've had in their world)

Learning to trust-A Zutara Story
Katara spend a great amounts of time hating Zuko after his betrayal under the crystal catacombs of Ba Sing Se. She had trusted him and he had betrayed her. When he joins Aang and starts teaching him fire bending her emotions get complicated and she is soon torn between her hatred towards the fire nation and her strange attraction to the Prince of said nation. Zuko infuriates her, annoys her , he is a constant reminder of Aang almost dying yet she finds herself trusting him again and slowly loving him. ~*~*~*~ The story is currently under Edit because it has been two years since I completed it and my English and writing ability have improved since then. Surprised and shocked (and secretly very happy), she makes friends with Team Avatar, not really caring if this is real or just a figment of her imagination because - Best. Experience. Ever! But after a while, Luna learns that everything in this different world is not always about fun and games. Suddenly, she has to deal with the strangest of people and avoid dangers that didn't exist in her life before this. Takes place maybe 5-6 years after ATLA arc. Aged up. Edit: Zuko doesn't have the best people skills, or leadership skills to be honest. But guess who does? It may take some time for him to realize it, but Zuko enlists Sokka to help with another redemption arc for the Fire Nation. Working together, learning together, loving toge- who said anything about that?! Wait, are there feeling here? Feelings can't get in the way of the mission...world peace is at stake! (Also, how I want to envision the bridge between ALTA and LoK to be established. All it takes is some gayyy) "It's the meeting with the other nations. They all think I have all the answers!" Zuko threw up his arms in aggravation. "I don't know what I'm doing!?" He slumped down onto the foot of Sokka's bed, holding his face in his hands. Confused at the candor of his former rival, he lifted a hand to pat his shoulder. One tap...a hesitation, then a couple more taps, "That's rough, Buddy."
