You know the story.
Dream kept a dark apple hidden from Nightmare.
And finally, in desperation to understand his dear brother's pain, he ate the dark apple in front of Nightmare and turned into a dark creature with tentacles that have the strength of whole armies.

But. In this timeline. This alternate Multiverse.
Nightmare takes his unconscious brother back to his castle and keeps him in the dungeon until he can find a way to cure his beloved little brother, and fix everything that he'd done wrong to their relationship that led to this.

Unfortunately. Dream may already be too far gone to save.
