The book illustrated a young boy named Reed got teleported and kidnapped to a Mansion called 'The Mansion of Trials and Trials'. In there, he met a Resident of the Mansion called Puppet and other fellow victims called Wanderers. In the Mansion, Wanderers must participate and overcome five different kinds of trials in order to leave this Mansion safe and sound. The first trial is called 'The Beginning Draw' which requires Wanderer to pick a life-or-death ball in a box. Next, Reed and other Wanderers encountered the second trial, 'The Predators' Maze', in which they had to pass through a maze full of creepy beasts, Skeldos and large man-eating Cannibal Flowers. After they completed the maze, the third trial, 'The Trickery Rooms', awaited them to explore and escape from a room with clues and puzzles. Coming behind was the fourth trial, 'The Sinner's Trial', which is a cruel and nasty trial which Wanderers need to choose and execute one Wanderer to be a 'sinner'. Despite overcoming these trials, Reed and the others would face the most dangerous trial of all, 'Hide and Seek', in which Wanderer needed to escape from the eyes of the black figures, the Shadowpeople and find out three rings to open a locked door to enter the throne room. During the journey of participating in the trials, Reed met his allies and enemies. For Wanderers, he met a kind and generous person called Levi, who was willing to sacrifice his life to save others and a smart person called Von. For Residents, there was a moving Puppet called Puppet, Mel the mummy, Knock a snake-shaped door handle, and a mysterious man with stitches and his cute fennec fox. By coming across all these people, Reed must build up his greatest bravery, intelligence and will to overcome all the obstacles he faces ahead.
