The metal clock hand on the elevator panel pointed at the number three. Hear the sound of the elevator bell, Von carried a stool and went inside the elevator. He ducked his head outside the elevator doors and had a closer peek. There was no one near the elevator at this moment of time. No Wanderers. No Residents.
Von put down the stool, he stood on it and took out a screwdriver from his jacket. He inserted the screwdriver on the upper panel layer from the elevator and opened it. He slowly get the panel out of the elevator, leaving a big escape route hole from above. He climbed inside the hole.
"Whoof. That was close," He whispered softly. He took one last glance at the doors. There was no one nearby aside from him. He stood above the elevator and took some gloves from his inner jacket pocket and wore them. The gloves had metal circle parts on the fingers. They were magnets. Similar to the gloves, his boots he was wearing got magnets on the heel roll and outer sole too.
He took a deep breath and pressed his hand on the wall. He looked up, at the upper floors. There was a large hole above.
The metal circle parts on his gloves lit on, it stuck on the wall like a suction cup. Von wiggled his finger and took a deep breath. He stepped his foot on the wall and climbed it slowly.
One. Two.
One. Two.
One. Two.
One. Two.
It was not harder than it looked. To climb on a wall. As the sounds of the metal circle parts stuck on the wall, Von lifted up his hand and reached a upper point. One hand after another. One leg after another. Slowly, one by one. He lifted up his right foot and stepped on the wall.
Surprisingly, the wall was slippery. His foot let go of the wall and slid outside. His other foot followed. The wind blew against him, straight darted from above. It was coming from upper floor. The wind blew him harder, pushing him back to the lower ground. With both hands hanging on the wall, he gazed down.
He swallowed his saliva. The ground below was miles away from his feet. He would be dead if he fell down from here.
Taking a deep breath, he swung his leg and smashed on the wall. The metal round parts stuck on the wall tightly. He tried to pull it back, luckily, to his relief, his boots did not budge.
"Good. It's working," Von mumbled. There was only a few steps left. The goal was close.
Using his last strength, he grabbed the ground from the upper floor.
One. Two.
One. Two.
One. Two.
One hand after another. One leg after another. He lifted up his leg and stepped on the floor, crawling on the ground. He eventually stood up and stared at the road ahead.
"Let's go," he talked to himself. He didn't look back. There was no turning back.
"Hehe......you are talking about that Wanderer? I like him too. He's very interesting." Coming ahead, Puppet's voice appeared in the corridor. Von stood near the walls.
"I don't mean that I like him. I just think he is different from other Wanderers. His stake of winning is high too," said Knock as he crawled on the road.
"I like that hunter guy the most. He's very delicious. I can't wait to see his ending." Puppet and Knock turned the corner with Mel following behind. Von held his breath. He didn't like company.
They're gone. Von thought in his mind. He quickly walked swiftly. He stared at the door not far from where they came from. It was open.
Von pushed the door and went in.
