My eyes fluttered open to the sterile white walls of a hospital room. Blinking against the harsh glare of the overhead lights, I tried to make sense of my surroundings. The beeping of medical monitors and the faint murmur of distant conversations filled the air, but they did little to ease the confusion gnawing at me. "Where am I?" I said aloud, to the empty room I took a breath. "Who am I?"
