After a virus outbreak leaves the world in total destruction, Scarlett Evans is one of the few survivors left. Her only home was swallowed in an explosion during a war with the infected. The Safe House turned out to not be so safe. All her family is gone. And Carter, the one friend who promised to never leave her side, vanished from the Safe House without a trace.

Now, she has a goal: find Ostford, the new Safe House. Could Carter have gone there without her? And why did he leave her behind to begin with?

In Desolation, Scarlett will have to learn to trust those she needs most, hold on to a future gradually unraveling, and let go of the things that are holding her back. And learn that sometimes, going forward isn't all that's left to hold on to.
