Dachet Grival is a complete invention, a stream-of-consciousness creation. Originally, this was going to be the name of one of my characters. When I was looking for a nom de plume, I realized that it would do the job I needed done.
I have often seen arguments about how names can used to prejudge a work. J.K. Rowling used her initials because of biases against females creating fantasy novels. Men would author romance novels with the pseudonyms of women to sell books. Some names would turn off readers because they gave the impression that the author was very old or very young. Other times, a novel may not be purchased because the person did not want to read an author based upon a perceived nationality.
I want to be a blank slate for the reader so the only thing I am judged by is the work. Not by my gender, age, nationality, sexual preference, religion, politics, musical tastes, or most importantly, by my favorite sports team.
I will acknowledge that I am a male, but this is an incontrovertible fact. Hardly a day would go by when I would walk down a crowded street where someone wouldn't stop and say to me something along the lines of, "My, word. You are a Man!" Such is the life of Dachet Grival.
I wanted a name that makes the reader say, "WTF is that?" I then want them to read my works and say, "WTF was that?" The name helps prepare.
I hope you enjoy my writings.
