Cassie's POV

I apparated in front of the school feeling a sense of uneasy at the sight of Hogwarts in front of me. I wanted nothing more than to grab my bags and apparate back to my warm, secluded house but instead I found myself pushing the gates open and walking towards the entrance of the school. My stomach was churning with every step I took feeling paranoid as if someone was watching me, but no one was around me. I had done this to myself for years whenever my anxiety would heighten and now it was beginning to consume me once more.

It was the first day, I knew that the whole school was gathering in the Great Hall, a place that held a beauty that still took my breath away. I picked up the pace of my feet as I led myself down the long halls that led to the headmasters office. I just wanted the ease of being by myself but I suppose this was the next big thing. I stopped at the statue in front of me, saying the words of his new favorite candy that I happen to introduce him too.

"Milkduds," I said quietly.

They were a muggle candy that I thought went nice with popcorn and a movie. I had forgotten one particular day that it was a holiday and I had no presents to send back to him, the only thing in my possession was a package of them. I wrapped them, sent them, and within the week he was requesting more.

I laughed at the small memory that boosted my mood. I wanted desperatly for these few months to go okay, I mean I knew I was never going to make it to the end of the year, so now I counted the days until turkey season. I flicked my dusty old wand out of my clothes, ushering in non-verbal magic for them to carry themselves up the stairs. I followed swiftly pushing the door open to my Godfather's office that had not changed since the last day I was in it.

The only thing missing was the sorting hat, and for obvious reasons. I could see new additions to his shelves, most of them were the presents I would sent, but what caught my eye was the picture of the both of us sitting on his desk. I walked to it picking it up with my own hands, forgetting completely that this picture even existed. My eighteenth birthday, I was surrounded by a cake Molly had made, and there beside me was Dumbledore as he helped me blow the candles out.

"My favorite picture of us, of course," I heard a voice say behind me.

I put the picture down carefully, turning to see my Godfather looking at me with a soft smile. His clothes were different, they were more school dressed instead of casual dressed, unlike me, who still wore my usual muggle clothes. I mean what can go wrong with jeans, a jacket, and converse shoes, it's the fashion.

He motioned for me to take a seat and I did, flicking my wand downwards so my bags would rest on the ground. Godfather rumaged through his papers looking for whatever, while I continued to look around at his office. I wondered were Fawkes was and only hoped she would appear soon, her presence was always nice, as well.

I turned back to the front, taking the paper that was handed out to me. I read through it slowly making sure I took in every inch of the new responsiblity that I now had upon me. I looked back up at him, but he to, was looking at me waiting for a response.

"You made Muggle Studies a requirement now, so I am going to have first years through the third years, and Burbage will have the rest?" I asked, watching as he nodded to my question, "I suppose three classes is not that bad, I would only see them every other day, unless that is why you gave me so little, what else is there?"

He chuckled to my question,  nodding his head once more.

"Lupin is the new professor for Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he will need a potion for his monthly changes, I have instructed you to help Professor Snape in making the potion,"
