baekhyun eyes fluttered open at the sudden voice of the presenter of his district shouting both him and taeyeon awake.
"time to get up! you've both got a big day ahead of you!" wendy's voice beamed excitedly.
baekhyun didn't move straight away, he savoured his time in this bed, it was probably the final time he'd get the privilege of sleeping in a bed. he let himself slowly prepare for what was happening today.
it was the day baekhyun didn't want to happen. the day he dreaded ever since his name was called out at the reaping.
he knew he couldn't lay around any longer, he had a schedule to follow, he couldn't show up late to the games.
he slowly rose in the bed, his sleepy eyes falling on his outfit that was placed at the bottom of his bed, he figured someone must of laid it out when he was still fast asleep.
he reached out to the basic t-shirt that he'd be wearing soon, it was an average cotton one, a faded mustard colour. he eventually stood up from the bed and made his way over, he had a pair of cargo trousers to wear as well, they had a zip, appearing to be able to become shorts as well. a pair of woollen socks lay on top of his shirt, dark brown boots at the foot of his bed.
he tried his best to figure out what the arena would look like from what was laid out in front of him. he hoped it'd be something similar to a forest, he was pretty confident on how he'd managed to last a little longer, that was only if he made it past the bloodbath.
he didn't want to think about it anymore. he took one last glance at what he'd be wearing until he turned to the bathroom; savouring the last shower he'd have.

they were the last district to make their way to the aircraft that was waiting for them, along with the other tributes.
baekhyun exchanged some quick glances with some of the tributes he didn't know the names of, some of them were his age, some of them too young to be here.
he took one of the remaining seats, he was beside a young boy, maybe twelve or thirteen baekhyun didn't now, he just knew he shouldn't be here. he was too young. the boy from district 1 was on his other side, baekhyun couldn't help but notice the smirk he exchanged with the district 2 boy, who's eyes were glimmering with excitement and adrenaline.
"give me your arm."
baekhyun looked at the stranger that had been waiting on both him and taeyeon. he did as told, letting her grab his arm and prod a thick needle inside.
his face grimaced at the sudden jolt of pain in his arm. the woman eventually moved on to taeyeon, baekhyun guessed everyone else had already had this done.
he looked down at his arm, quickly wiping away the small bead of blood that was forming, a rectangle shape protruded through his skin slightly, his fingers curiously tracing over it.
then he realised what it was.
it was his tracker, it was what would monitor where he was, even if he was dead or alive.
he looked up, the sudden thought of a district 7 boy crossed his mind. his eyes searched the aircraft, eventually falling on him, baekhyun wanted to give him a small smile or something before they'd be sent away but he couldn't muster up one if he tried. he felt sick to his stomach.
nobody had uttered a sound. baekhyun didn't think he could speak, he was trying desperately to keep his breakfast down. he was so nervous; terrified at what was to come next.
•
his face was pale by the time the hovercraft had landed and he was ushered along with other tributes into separate rooms.
