"Hey, Algaepool," Kestrelwing meowed, stepping back from her. "Have you seen Brindlestar, Owlwing, Coldtail, or Creekclaw all day?"
Algaepool swallowed a bite of fish that Kestrelwing had brought for her. "No, I haven't actually. I'm sure that they're just on patrol. I did see Creekclaw this morning, I told him I was suspicious of how Owlwing and Coldtail were acting, but nothing else." His eyes gleamed with thought.
Algaepool looked over at the medicine den, where they fought in a pile of purring fur. Warmth flooded over her as she watched her siblings, they might not have the same father, but Oatfur was such a sweet, loving tom. She knew that Kestrelwing wanted to have kits, but he was patient, letting her decide when the time was right. She wanted at least one of the the train an apprentice for a full six moons, if not both of them.
"Well, they've been gone for quite a while, if they were going for the sunrise patrol, they'd be back. It's after sunhigh, the time that a sunrise patrol would return." he mewed to Algaepool. "But if you think they're ok, I take your word."
        "I'm glad, now, let's eat."
They settled down, letting their eyes close in the sunlight, then open again. It felt like forever until they finished the fish. It was shadowing inside of her that something was wrong, but she forced herself to ignore it. Her bad feeling swelled, filling her mind, She tried shaking it off, but the dark feelings kept building and building inside of her.
"Something bad is about to happen. I just know it." she meowed to Kestrelwing. She looked at him, dead in the eye. Everything was peaceful, nothing happened yet. The clearing was almost deserted, with mostly everyone out of patrol. Bright sunlight shone down from the blue sky, streaked with fine wisps of fluffy cloud.
She had a horrible feeling. Algaepool knew something was horribly wrong. It must be out in the river, somewhere on Riverclan territory.
"Kestrelwing, we have to look for Brindlestar and the others."
"I know, something dreadful is happening. But if we get attacked, we have no backup. We need to gather cats."
"I agree, we need to gather some other cats."
Kestrelwing rested her tail on his mates shoulder. "Everything's okay. We'll find cats."
"But barely anyone's in camp, and I don't know where any of the patrols went, we could be looking, while the missing cats are laying in pools of blood."
She had hardly finished speaking  before she heard the sound of a cat bursting through the camp entrance, his fur drenched with water. His eyes wide with fear, and his fur standing on end.
"Someone help!" he gasped. "Brindlestar . . . she's hurt!:
"And why didn't you help her?" Kestrelwing demanded, his eyes blazing.
"Because she's . . . Creekclaw are there too." Owlwing was gasping for air as if he'd just dragged himself out of the deepest parts of the river. "A rogue is with him- an Exiled on our territory. I can't take both of them on at the same time. I had to come for help." he pointed his tail towards Sunningrocks. "That way! We need to hurry!"
