You turned around hearing the sounds of footsteps.
"Hey...", he crouched resting his hands on knees, panting.
"Did you run all the way?", you held him by his arm and made him seat on the bench.
Taking some deep breaths, he sighed before craning his neck to look at you.
"Not all the way.", he smiled sheepishly, "I got stuck in the traffic. It would have taken nearly an hour so I told my driver to go back and ran here."
He grinned but you averted gaze and asked, "I could have waited."
He instantly cupped your face, making you look at him, "Oh Y/N, what would I not do for you? I'd give you the stars and moon, if you'd ask for."
You throat closed up.
You both smiled, but none reached your eyes. He was unusually calm today and you could sense the way his demeanor was cold and grieving.
"I'm sorry.", your voice trembled.
"What--"
"Just listen to me.", you took his hands in yours, gently and placed them on your lap, "I.... I am.. It's..."
"You don't want this wedding.", he said and you looked at him wide eyed, "Because you're heart belongs to somewhere else perhaps someone else."
You nodded faintly.
"I knew that you are not into any of this but again I thought maybe I'd be able to change your heart. Frankly, I was expecting this when you called today."
"I'm so sorry. You don't deserve any of this.", you choked a sob.
"Hey, don't cry. I'll always wish the best for you.", he said wiping your tears.
"But tomorrow is our engagement.", you looked at him helplessly.
"You don't have to worry about that. I'll talk to both of our parents.", he assured.
"Why....?", you were wailing now. Your mind didn't want to let go but your heart wasn't ready to accept him.
"Love is all about being selfless. When I gave, I gave myself to you, Y/N ", he stood up and smiled again, "Because I fell for you hard."
No matter how hard he tried, you could see tears welling at the corner of his eyes. Your heart constricted and guilt tripped all over you. But you were bound within your trapped feelings.
"Goodbye Y/N.", a tear escaped from his eye before he turned and started walking.
"Goodbye Mark.", you whispered feebly.
"M-Mark?", you couldn't believe, he was standing right in front of you, remembering the days, your fingers hesitantly hovered over the contact of his name, debating if you should call or just send a simple text, saying you missed him. You loved Mark a lot, platonically. He filled the void of Jackson and you could almost replace him. Shhh Jackson should ever know this.
If only your stupid heart wasn't hell bent on pinning over Yoongi.......
The first thing you did on seeing Mark was grinned big and your body immediately reacted of it's own, grabbing him by arm and pulled him into a bone crushing hug. Mark stood frozen not knowing if he could bear another moment of intimacy with you, without exploding.
"I missed you.", you mumbled pressed against his chest.
Mark raised his hand up to your head when Yoongi cleared his throat. Of course you didn't notice and Yoongi had to ask, "You both know each other, how?"
