"I fed the wolf inside my heart with the wildness from my soul. He devoured each and every part and stayed to keep me whole." -Michelle Schaper.

"Can you teach me how to throw knives like that?" I asked Osman.

"Nope," he said and showed off a dazzling display sequence with two of his knives. I clapped excitedly when he hit my burnt practice dummy dead center.

"Why not?" I demanded when we walked over to retrieve his knives.

"Because it's dangerous and Can shave all my fur off if you so much as break a nail."

"We've been working on self-defense and all those crazy martial art sequences. This is no more dangerous than that," I pointed out.

"Yes, but he's the one teaching you the hand-to-hand stuff. I'm only allowed to demonstrate."

"He's not the boss of me," I grouched.

"Well, he is the boss of me and my fur is glorious. I'm very attached to it so no," he said, smirking and chucking me under the chin.

"I'll ask Gamze," I said.

"Ask Gamze what?" Can asked me, coming back into the practice clearing after being called away.

There was a lot of activity and preparation for a ball at the end of the week to celebrate the Pack being official again. Even if we were technically renegades since Can's defection from the Council. I was told it was merely a formality and an excuse for everyone to get drunk. But it was all very secretive and I wasn't allowed to see the details for some reason. My wolf was being cagey again.

"I'm going to ask her to teach me how to throw knives like a badass," I said. "Which reminds me, why is Gamze working at the nursery again and not here with you?" I'd been meaning to ask him since I last saw her.

Instead of answering, he kissed me fiercely as if he hadn't seen me in years instead of barely an hour. He had been more intense than usual lately ever since he regained his memories. I swayed a little when he finally let go of me. Then he took a knife from Osman, twirled it in a mesmerizing motion, and told me what happened.

"This is my fault," I whispered when he finished speaking.

"Why would you be to blame for this?" He asked me in surprise.

I swallowed thickly. "There's something I should have told you."

At the look on my face, he sheathed the knife and cupped my face in his hands. "What is it?"

"Polen was involved in my kidnapping," I said without preamble.

His eyes turned wolf gold.

"She was there at the hut. I didn't realize it until she came to the cabin that day. I should have told you but..."

He kissed me softly now sensing my distress but his eyes remained hard golden diamonds. "Yeah you should have told me but it's still not your fault."

"If I had spoken up, Gamze would have found out what kind of person she was sooner."

"Osman," he called. I could almost feel the wolf prowling under his skin, waiting to erupt into a wolf to avenge his mate.

"Can, I don't want you to do whatever you're thinking of doing," I said a little desperately but I knew their wolves were in charge now.

"Let's go," Osman said and they stalked towards the Den.

"Wait! Go where? I thought it was her Pack's right to judge her."
