"I cannot remember exactly the first time your soul whispered to mine, but I know you woke it. And it has never slept since." -JmStorm

"You can't do this! This is the twenty-first century and you're not some medieval feudal warlord above the law." I had been on an angry tirade since we'd left the nightclub. Correction: since he had abducted me from the nightclub.

"If you only had a phone. Then you could call for help," he deadpanned.

I tried to imitate one of his angry growls and his lips curved in a delighted smile which made me even more irate. The man was impossible. But if I was being truly honest with myself there was a little thrill underneath my indignation. Why me? What about me inspired such a man to empty out a nightclub so he could have one dance? Not to mention the abducting part... It felt like some kind of fairy tale I should definitely not be enjoying. I fell silent as we arrived at his house, where he proceeded to pick me up again like I was a sack of very beloved potatoes.

"I think I preferred it when you dragged me around like a piece of luggage," I muttered.

He placed me down gently in the living area and I stormed out to the terrace immediately. There was a very sturdy tree there if I remembered correctly and I was sure I could enlist it in aiding me to make my escape. But I didn't make it very far.

Surrounding the chaise where we had kissed was a sea of flowers including Narcissus, the very flower he had used to beguile me. I remembered the tingling in my fingers when he had been busy driving me out of my head that night with his kisses. Oh.

I turned and he was standing by the door, in the shadows, hands in his pockets watching me.

I decided to brazen it out. "So you took up gardening?"

He bit back what sounded suspiciously like a laugh. "It seems so. Apparently, I have a very green thumb."

I meant to keep moving but the look in his eyes had me rooted to the spot. He appeared like a man finally at peace with his world for the moment. One who had been forced to make a terrible decision but now that it was done, felt liberated.

"Why did you take me?" I asked him. Letting the confusion I had been feeling since he exploded into my life show through in my voice.

"Because you're mine," he said simply.

"You're crazier than I am."

"Stop saying that. You're not crazy."

"Oh, really? I see an abnormally large dog patrolling your garden." He didn't seem at all alarmed by my observation.

"Don't let him hear you call him a dog," he said and a small smile curved his lips again. I had the sudden and irrational desire to be the source of all his smiles. Oh, he was so much trouble. I turned away from his hypnotic eyes to inspect closer but whatever I thought I saw was gone.

"Him?"

"I'll reveal things in due time but not here and not tonight."

"Why can't you just tell me? Is it the mafia?" I said, aghast, as the thought suddenly occurred to me.

"Ah, no." He was openly chuckling now and I was mesmerized by the sound. "But this is now your world too so you will find out soon enough."

I crossed my arms, swallowed back all my questions and tried to look like I meant business and not like I was melting inside at the sight of his dimples. I could not back down or I had a feeling he would walk all over me. Give him an inch and he would take a mile.
