The Kanye West rant at the end of episode one was the conversation of the set. I luckily wasn't anywhere near the stage when it happened. And thankfully so. I heard the cringe was felt everywhere.
----
"Lita can you check to see if Awkwafina needs anything in her dressing room?" my boss Rebecca asked over the radio. I shuffled with the clipboard in my hand and managed to reply.
"Yep, yea no worries!" I replied quickly. One thing with my job was that being prompt with every request made you that little bit more noticeable to the bosses. I clipped my radio back into my jean pocket and started walking down the hallway backstage to Awkwafina's dressing room.
I frankly was in a good mood. People seemed a lot more friendly towards me, especially after everyone was able to let loose at the after party. I saw Damien on the set and he gave me a friendly smile and winked at me when he first saw me.
It made me feel giddy but I was still a bit embarrassed about the night.
I was humming as I walked down the hallway, reading down the checklist on my clipboard when I accidentally walked straight into someone and fell flat on my ass.
"Hey pretty lady, whatcha doin' down there?". I scoffed as Pete Davidson offered a hand and helped me to my feet. He licked his lips and eyed me up and down as he put his hands in his pocket.
"Just tryna survive and do my job" I gave him a smile as I picked up my clipboard and brushed myself off.
"You have a staring problem or something?" I frowned as he had some stupid smile on his face, like he knew something.
"Naw nah" he laughed again. "You have a good night at the after party last week?"
I narrowed my eyes a small panic festered inside of me.
"Yea. It was a pretty good night. You?"
"Yea. Sick night. Well I gotta head off, I'm up next". I watched him walk down the hallway towards the set and tilted my head when I saw Damien walk up to him and give him a fist bump as they shared small talk. I had turned around to head towards Awkwafina's room, not realising Pete had looked back at me with a frown as Damien starting bragging about his night with the runner.
----
I was handing out microphones for So You're Willing to Date a Magician. I noticed Pete was busy on his phone as Rebecca, my boss, rang in again from the radio telling me to take Pete's phone off him.
"Ahhh, pardon me?" I asked, slightly confused considering it was personal belongings, much less a phone, I was taking off a cast member.
"He's been on that thing most of the day. Director's order, take the phone off him and put his microphone on!". I was shocked by her tone but...a jobs a job. I made my way on the stage as Pete was standing there, typing furiously on his phone when I snatched it off him and before he could react I grabbed his lapel mic and clipped it onto him.
"What the hell yo!" he almost yelled, about to storm up to me as I jumped off the stage.
"Ummm Rebecca, what do you want with Pete Davidson's phone?". I looked over to the set as the makeup artists were working on the crew and I caught Pete looking around. I'm definitely sure he was looking for me. Well his phone anyway.
"Just shove it in his room then get back on set because I think we're due for another coffee run".
"Okay, yep. Gonna quickly run in, drop it, then be with you in a minute" I replied as I ran once again down the hallway where the dressing rooms were.
It began vibrating in my hand as I hurried to Pete's room. It was only a short one so I assumed it was a text message or social media interaction. Then again and again. At least six or seven more times after that till I got to this room.
I quickly opened the door and decided on placing his phone next to bag on the table. I placed it down and it vibrated one last time. I saw the screen light up as a picture showed up with a comment under it.
Boys, this beauty eh! Gonna try go for round two after the show. Wish me luck. Yea right, she gon' need it.
