*flash back*

y/n sat on the bench Wilbur had promised to meet her. a rose she had picked on the way pressed into her book.
just a couple more minutes
the girl looked around, hoping to see her other half somewhere. but to her avail he was no where in sight. the girl hummed a song to pass the time.

it's been over thirty minutes.
the girl got up and stretched, and slowly made her way back to the village to try and find Wilbur. the roads were empty and the only thing illuminating the streets where the not yet broken street lights.

where is he.
the girl approached the boys house, all of its lights off. she creeped around to wilburs window, he always left it slightly open and unlocked for her. she pressed her face against its cold exterior, trying to peek into the room. nothing. the girl sighed walked back to their spot, taking out a piece of paper and writing a note.

dear will
you weren't here so i'm assuming you got caught up with something...
i'm leaving,
i hope i'm not making the wrong decision to leave without you, but i am going west, i'll leave notes and signs that i was there so we can find each other again.
i'm also leaving you one of my earrings, so we can both have a diamond with us.
see you soon will.
love y/n/n

y/n sighed as she placed the note onto the bench, taking out one of her diamond earrings to leave for her best friend. she took one last look at her village and left.

Wilbur sat in his treehouse, fiddling with a random bookmark y/n had left there. tears falling from his eyes knowing that y/n had left. instead of leaving with the girl he stayed so she would be more safe, for if the two had left together, the king would have sent out an army to look for them, and kill them. this way, he would take any punishment so she wouldn't have too.

as the sun slowly raised, wilbur left to go to the bench. only to cry more when he read her note. he picked the earring up and put it on.
i'm sorry.
wilbur walked back to the village, knowing he had just broken his promise.

*flashback over*

"hey y/n?" Wilbur said, breaking the comfortable silence.

y/n hummed, "i really miss you." the tall brunette said, biting the inside of his cheek after.

"i miss you too will, but i don't forgive you." y/n said, looking over to her former friend.

"it wouldn't have been safe if i left with you y/n." Wilbur said.

"i never cared about safety, all i wanted was to be with my best friend." y/n said, frowning at the boy sitting with her.

"you have me now..." Wilbur basically whispered, his voice low.

"i know i do will... and you have me too." y/n smiled and turned back to the clearing, although she was still mad, she was happy to have her friend back.

"hey will can you promise me something.." y/n said, grabbing Wilburs hand.

"what is it?" he asked.

"promise to never leave me again.."

"i promise."
