2: swords and smiley faces

y/n found herself standing over the table, her fists pressed into its wooden surface. the girl hated remembering her past with the tall boy, she would go as far to say she even hated him.

"y/n please come back!" Wilbur yelled as the short girl started to walk away.

as she went out of wilburs sight the boy fell back into his chair, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

y/n found herself aimlessly walking through the thick forest, her mind clouded with thoughts she didn't want to think. the girl stopped at a tree, and sat against it. the chilled wind of the morning calming her nerves.

snap. the sound of sticks breaking broke the silence, the girl reached to her side and grabbed her sword, ready to fight whatever she needed to.

"y/n?" a familiar voice said.

"dream?" the girl responded, putting her sword back in its place.

dream stood in front of the girl against the tree, his white mask hiding his bright smile.

"i haven't seen you in so long." dream said as he helped the girl up into a hug.

y/n smiled into his chest, fondly recalling their time together from years ago.

*flashback*

y/n had been wandering for ages, moving from village to village in hopes to find somewhere to stay. her heart still broken from what her best friend, or ex best friend had done. the girl found herself sitting at a small lake, her legs sitting in the water as she drew smiley faces into the sand.

she had sat there for god knows how long, admiring the beautiful scenery. all until a boy came and sat beside her.

"it's pretty isn't it?" the boy said, glancing over to the girl.

"it is... who are you?" she asked, taking her glance away from the lake and onto the boy in the green hoodie.

"i'm dream."

the girl smiled, she hadn't talked to anyone for a long time.

"i'm y/n." she said with a smile.

the pair sat together for hours, taking in the world around them. although they had never met before, y/n found comfort in his presence, and she admired how he didn't try to instantly fight her.

as the sun set over the nearby mountain, and the reflection of the orange and pink sky in the water bounded the pair to one another. their friendship had begun.

*time skip*

6 months had passed, dream and y/n founded the land they called 'dreamsmp'. others had joined too, a short brown haired boy with white circular glasses, a black haired boy who never took off his white bandana, a kind and whole hearted boy who wore a black cloak, and others.

"y/n/n wake up!" dream yelled from downstairs. his voice startling the sleeping girl.

"dream i swear to god." y/n yelled from her bedroom, "if you're waking me up for some stupid reason... you better run."

the girl quickly got changed and ran downstairs, to find that dream was no where in sight. she sighed as she realized he did wake her up for no reason.

"morning y/n." sapnap said as he bite into some potatoes.

y/n groaned, "goodmorning." she said through a yawn. the girl sat at the table and grabbed a carrot to eat.

the two talked for a while, laughing at each others jokes. dream walked into the community house, his sword held in his hands.

"dream." y/n said sternly, ready to yell at the boy for waking her up.

"y/n come for a walk with me." dream said as he stood by the door.

y/n groaned, it was still too early for a walk. yet she still got out of her seat and went up to dream.

"sap we'll be back in a bit." dream said with a smile, earning a small wave from sapnap.

dream and y/n walked for a while, embracing the comfortable silence. they fell away from the path, walking aimlessly into the woods all until a small clearing.

"we're here!" dream said excitedly, he grabbed the girls hand and the pair walked to a small river cutting through the clearing. they sat together and let their legs sit in the flowing water.

"what are we doing dream?" y/n asked, leaning back on her hands.

"i wanted to give you something." dream said, smiling brightly at the girl next to him, even though his smile was hidden by his white mask.

y/n hummed, "what is it?" she asked, leaning forward.

dream reached to his side, where his sword sat in its holster (idk what it's called lol).

"this!" the boy said, holding his most prized possession out to the girl.

y/n's eyes went wide, as she carefully took the sword and admired it. "why?" she asked.

"i know you've always wanted a sword like mine, so i decided to just give you mine." dream said, happy that she seemed to like his gift so much.

"i love it." y/n said as she put the sword away and pulled her friend into a hug.

dream smiled to himself, and looked back to the river.

"i have something for you too." y/n said, pulling a marker out of her bag.

dream looked over at the girl, "what is it." he asked.

"take off your mask." y/n said, smiling brightly at dream.

dream took his mask off and handed it too y/n, he watched as she carefully drew something, trying her best not to mess up.

"here." she said, handing the mask back to dream.

he laughed when he saw the slightly wonky smiley face drawn onto his mask.

"since no one ever gets to see that pretty smile of yours." y/n said, laughing when dream put the mask on.

"i love it, thank you."

the two hugged again before turning back to the river, and again sharing a comfortable silence.

*flashback over*

dream and y/n found themselves sitting by a nearby lake, just like when they met. they sat comfortably together in silence, occasionally pointing out clouds that looked like something, or random animals that passed them.

"i see you still have the sword i gave you." dream said, pointing to the sword in y/n's holster.

"and you kept the smiley face." y/n said, poking dreams mask, earning a light laugh from the boy in green.

"i should head back to pogtopia." y/n said, standing up and stretching.

"i have to go there too." dream said, jumping up quickly and picking his shield off the ground.

y/n nodded and the pair headed back to pogtopia.
