A Night at the apartment

It was only when Dinah opened the door to her apartment and locked it behind her that she took out her phone, deciding she would finally read Dario's message.

Dario: I think you're drawing conclusions and making more of this than what it needs to be.  I don't want to stop talking to you. I think we're good together and I've just been going through some shit right now.

Dario: So let's meet up tonight. Where would you like to go?

Dario: Why are you ignoring me?

Dario: Fine, I'll do the unthinkable. I'll be at the bar at Duffy's until nine. If you don't show up, fine. But I'll be there waiting for you.

Dinah's eyes widened. He couldn't be serious. He was waiting for her at an actual place? Waiting to see her in person?

A quick glance at the top of her phone told her it was way past nine; ten twelve to be exact. Throwing her purse down on the dining room table, she walked over and plopped herself on her couch, her eyes never wavering from her phone.

Dario: Damn. You didn't show up. Makes me want you even more.

Dinah's heart beat so loudly in her chest she thought it would just burst from her chest. That familiar tingling sensation throbbed between her legs, just like it always did whenever she thought of Dario or he even implied anything sexual.

Dario: Fine. I'll do another unthinkable thing.

The messages stopped. He sent that last one half an hour ago. Dinah took a deep breath and dropped her phone next to her on the plush, blue couch and placed her head in her hands, an unmistakable fear coursing through her body. What was he going to do? The next thing would be to call her, but she had no missed calls. Though a part of her longed to have stayed home, ignored him, and then met up with him like he said, but another part of her reveled at the idea that her ignoring him and being a bitch made him do things that he wouldn't have done on his own without her calling him out on it. She also did have fun with Christine, so it was still an enjoyable night.

Her phone's ringer made her jump in her seat, startled. She smirked. That was definitely Dario calling. He never called her on the phone so this not responding to him must be serious for him.

Dinah's brows furrowed as she held the phone in her hands.  Her condominium guardhouse? She wasn't expecting any visitors. She didn't order any food. Those would be the only two reasons they would call her.

"Hello," she said.

"Si, hola, " the elderly security guard said loudly, making Dinah wince. " Tienes un visitor aqui, Dario Garcia?"

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. He's here? How did he even know my address?

"Si, let him in," she said, having up the phone. Her eyes traveled around the living room and her smaller kitchen area to her left. Dammit! Her apartment wasn't cleaned up and he just popped in like this? Even if it was Dario, she wasn't ready to have him of all people as a visitor. What if he thought she was a slob who couldn't keep up a nice, clean home? What if he took one look at her bathroom- which still had some hairs on the floor due to her untangling her unruly, curly hair, and thought she definitely wouldn't be move-in girlfriend or wife material?

Crap. Crap. At least she was still dressed nice from her evening out, but she made a beeline for the utilities closet and took out her broom and began picking up the stray hairs on the floor. Once she placed the broom and dustbin back in the closet, she shut the door to her bedroom. There was no way Dario was even getting a peek into what her bed look like, lest he get any ideas. She scanned the rest of the apartment and saw some oil drips on the kitchen stove from the previous night's dinner of chicken. Grabbing a window cleaner and a piece of paper towel from the bottom of the kitchen sink, she wiped off the stains plus any other dirty spots in her kitchen counter. After putting away any extra things such as mail on the dining room table, sweaters draped over the dining room chairs, and a white blanket laying on her couch, she waited for the inevitable knock on her door.
