Getting too close

"I wanted to see you," he said quietly.

Butterflies danced through her stomach and a bubbling excitement brewed inside her at his words.

"Badly?" she asked, hoping he would elaborate.

"Yeah."

"I was really going to end it, you know."

"Yeah, I got that feeling once you didn't respond to my messages. You always respond."

Dinah turned the other way to smirk. Maybe once in awhile, whenever he does something else that was really stupid, she would just ignore his messages. It was good to let him know that he couldn't just take her for granted.

"I didn't even look at them." She turned to face him, feeling brave enough to look into his eyes, putting on her fake tough persona. " If a guy stands me up, I can easily just make a date with my friends. When I want to go out, I go out."

"I see." He didn't break the connection of their gaze. Instead, he moved closer to her. "It turned me on so much tonight."

Dinah gulped. "Yeah?"

He nodded. "It made me not want to housesit for my mom. I didn't want to lose this-" He pointed to her and himself - " So I did the unthinkable."

"Spending time with me is the unthinkable?"

Please justify that stupid response. Please.

"Sorry," he broke their gaze, "I didn't mean it like that. Listen, I know we don't hang out that much. I just have a lot going on with this stupid court thing and my ex. She's such a crazy bitch and I promise, once that court hearing is over and she gets evicted from my house, we will spend all the time in the world together."

He grinned and moved closer to her, placing his hand on her forearm. Dinah closed her eyes. His touch was...magical. What he was doing to her body with just that simple touch...she couldn't describe it. She knew she would do anything for him, wait as long as possible until he was ready. The fact that he was here, in her private sanctuary, after driving on the highway all the way from Kendall, told her that he did care. He, in actuality, freaked when she didn't respond, when she ended things.

As she leaned in to the touch she knew that even though he didn't have his shit together, that he did douchy- guy things sometimes, he did care for her and was trying to do the best he could after a shitty situation. No one was perfect and she knew, she felt it in her soul, that he was the one. Their meeting wasn't a coincidence and one day, if she stuck it out instead of turning him away, he would be hers.

When he leaned in for a kiss, she didn't pull away, but gave in to it. He immediately deepened the kiss, as if he was hungry for her and couldn't get enough of her touch, which mirrored her own desire. She grabbed his head and brought his mouth closer to hers. Their bodies melded together, breaths mingling as she clung to the feel of his body as if it was a lifesaver.

A laugh broke them apart. Dinah turned to her left to see one of her neighbors standing on his balcony, smoking a cigarette and staring at them curiously.

"Oye, metense en un cuarto,"  the man said, laughing and making lewd gestures.

What a lowlife. So disgusting. Only a gross man like that would respond to a romantic kiss between two people by telling them to go into a room.

Before she could respond, Dario laughed and led her back inside the apartment and slid the glass door shut. She smiled in return. It was a good thing he took it as a joke and helped ease her anger. There were many times where she took things to heart and let out a burst of anger before thinking better of it. As she led him over to the couch, she thought Dario would be a good influence on her in the future when things would get serious. His easygoing attitude contrasted her uptight nature. Opposites definitely attract.

On the couch, his mouth was on hers again and there was a tangle of arms and hands. Instinctively, Dinah sat on his lap and the aching, the longing between her legs grew stronger and she felt his attraction now- his hardness rubbed against her most aching spot. He emphasized it more by holding down her thighs and roughly moving her back and forth between his thickness. She hadn't done this or felt like this in a long time, years actually, and she instinctively encouraged it, loved the feel of him against her, even if there were black, stretchy pants and thick jeans between them. She held on to him as they continued to grind against each other, her breaths becoming pants and little moans that she couldn't control. She felt such want and desire for him that she leaned in close to kiss him again, which he responded with immense enthusiasm.

But it was when he reached underneath her shirt to cup her breast underneath her bra that Dinah removed herself from his lap and sat next to him on the couch.

"I'm sorry. I got caught up in kissing. I'm not ready to go beyond that," she said breathlessly.

She looked anywhere but at Dario. Recalling her last experience with guys when she stopped them from taking things too far, it hadn't been pleasant. From being called a tease and a blue-baller, it made her feel automatically scared and guilty to stop when things were getting hot and heavy. She hoped she hadn't ruined things with Dario at this point. But she really didn't want to ruin things yet by having sex with him so soon.

"It's okay," he said, smoothing down his pants. "No worries."

She turned to him and saw him smiling. She was elated as he kissed her on the cheek. He wasn't blaming her, wasn't making her feel bad for not continuing what they were doing.

"Do you mind if we watch something so I can calm it down?" he asked as he gestured to his still- bulging pants.

Dinah laughed and reached for the remote control and turned on the t.v. "Yeah, sorry about that."

"It's really okay," he said, placing an arm around her shoulder. " If you're not ready you're not ready."

After they finally picked a funny comedy to watch, Dinah briefly glanced at him and gave him a light kiss on his lips. "Thank you for understanding."

He kissed her forehead. "There's really no need. You're a good girl and I really didn't expect us to go that far anyway."

Dario read her so well. It was the first time that a man didn't expect so much so soon from her, because he knew who she was, knew the kind of woman she was, and was happy knowing that she wasn't the kind of girl to sleep with a guy so quick.

That's the moment that Dinah allowed herself to fall in love with him.
