Today is the first official practice with Dan and Will and I'm kind of scared. Not scared of them but scared to perform in front of them. They want to see the songs I've written and I'm scared to show them to them too. They're my personal songs. They hold not only my emotions but my weakness. My songs show how dependent I was on Michael and how much of an impact he had on my life.
They were coming over to Luke's, where I am right now. Luke's been so helpful these last couple of days. He's became not only my best friend, but a brother. He helps keep Michael off my mind. He'll goof around and make cute little jokes when I'm feeling down. He has just overall been a great person to me, but when is he not?
"Scar they're here!" Luke yelled out. I ran into the living room, and smiled at my so called band mates. I smiled at them and they returned the favor. "So you guys can practice in the basement, and I'll stay up here out of the way." Luke said.
"No! I mean, um can you come with us? Please? You help me." I said. It was true too. Luke has helped me with becoming more confident with my voice and the whole performing thing. He smiled at me and pulled me into a small hug.
"Yes, of course I'll come watch you, I love hearing you sing. Especially your songs." Luke said while squeezing me to his chest tightly. I've Luke a couple of my songs, mainly upbeat ones because the slow songs are more personal and make me cry whenever I read over them. I did let him read them though. Performing them is to much for me right now.
"Okay so we'll do a couple covers as a warm up then you can teach us some of your songs and we'll choose which ones we're going to perform at Prom. We can do a couple covers too so people know some songs that we're playing." Will said walking towards the basement stairs. "I want to do mainly upbeat songs, but we can throw in maybe three or four slow songs. We have two hours to perform then its the other performers turn, Oh and we're also required to play at least two songs with the other performer. I think we can do one slow song with them and one fast one. Maybe an acoustic song too. I don't know those are just some ideas." He finished. I just kept nodding my head, not really paying attention. I heard slow songs though and that's what brought me out of my daze.
"Um for the slow songs can we do covers. My slow songs are kind of um really personal. I said fidgeting with my fingers.
"Awe come on Little Bit, your slow songs are my favorite." Luke said.
"Can we hear one?" Dan asked.
"I really don't want to perform any of them. I get kind of emotional. Like really emotional. And I would choke from crying and it'd just be really bad." I said grabbing the notebook that I put all of my songs in.
"If you want people to notice you, you need to break out of this shell you have. People don't want to see a scared shy girl, they want to hear the scared shy girl. If you share your emotions and you'll get noticed right away. People love it." Will said while tuning his guitar.
"Will not so harsh." Dan scowled at him. I just shook my head and sat on the stool we had brought down here.
"Its okay." I said softly. "So can we start and just get this over with please?" I said.
"You don't seem like you want to do this. If you don't want to sing why did you sign up?" Will said standing on my right.
"Will seriously stop." Dan said. Will shook his head and muttered something under his breath.
"I just wanted to share some of my songs." I said.
"Well then lets see them and learn them since you're so excited to sing them." Will said grabbing my book.
"Would you stop being an ass to her?" Luke said. "She really doesn't need to hear your shit."
"Its not shit, its the truth. She's so hung up on this boy who probably is already sleeping with someone else already. Get over it already." He said.
