Becoming A Hunter (Killua X Male Reader OC)

The Lake

Are we really going to have to spend 5 days on this island? I ask as we all sit around a campfire.

It was around 10 in the evening. Apart from our voices, the loudest sounds there were, were that from the fire crackling and the wild life on this island.

"I guess so", Kurapika said as she played with the fire using a stick. I looked at the sparks and got lost in my thoughts. What should I do.. just take the badge and go? Or wait untill the end. Do I even need his badge? I can also take the badges from 3 other people. They have been really nice to me.. even though I've only known them for a couple off days, they are the first people who can come close to being friends but Killua.. I don't know what's up with him..

I know I haven't been completely honest with him. As in.. it's not that I lied to him but.. he knows more about me than the rest of the group. He knows I'm not showing my true self to everyone. To anyone for that matter.. should I.. talk to him? Tell him? It's been a long time since I told anyone..

"Hunter? Are you alright?". I snapped out off the state I was in as I saw Gon's hand waving in front off my face. "Huh?", I sais as I looked towards Gon who was sitting next to me. "You kinda spaced out there, anything you wanna talk about?", he asked me politely. "Oh I uh.. I mean", I stopped my sentence and looked towards Killua. Killua took notice off this and raised an eyebrow. I sighed and looked back at the fire. "No I'm fine. Just a bit tired.. that's all".

I could feel Killua's eyes stare directly at me but I ignored it. What's up with me tonight? Why has it been all about Killua in my head tonight.. "alright, you can tell us if there is something wrong. You know that right?", Gon said politely.   I just nodded. They continued there conversation.

"Hey", I started gaining their attention, "i'm going for a quick walk. I'll be back in 30 minutes or so". "Are you sure you want to be alone right now? At night? With everyone out there looking for eachother?", Leorio said. I turned around and started walking away. "They are probably more scared off me than I am off them", I simply replied. "That works with spiders! Not with soon to be professional hunters!". "I'll be fine, don't worry about me", I said as I walked away from the fire place. I just need to be alone for a few minutes. To clear my thoughts and such..

After around 10 kinutes off walking, I stumbled upon a small lake. The sky was clear, so I could see the moons reflection in the water. With my hands in my pockets, I took a deep breath. So peacefull and beautifull. I looked up at the stars and enjoyed the shiny ness off them. Everything around me suddenly slowed down as I felt the wind behind me move in a particularly but familiar way. I could hear something fly towards me with high speed. A pointed rock. No.. an arrow..

I moved my head to the left and felt it miss my cheeck by a mere inch. I caught the arrowas it was in front off me and looked at at. With one hand jolding the arrow, and the other still in my pocket, I turned around to the direction the arrow was shot from. A man looked at me with fear in his eyes. "H.. how did.. how did you.. notice?!", he stuttered. "You make to much noice", I replied to the man, "well, actually you were pretty quiet. The arrow made to much noice after it was fired. Wasn't hard to know where it came from"

The man turned around and wanted to start running away. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the lake again. Was that it? Did he pick me? Is he gonna try that again? No, not by himself. I don't think so". Well.. lets wait for the others then.

I sat down and started playing with the grass and small rock around me throwing aome in the water.

Killua's pov

"Do you guys know what's up with Hunter? He's been acting really weird today", Kurapika said. Gon immediately looked my way. Kurapika took notice off this and looked my way as well. "Did you do something, Killua?", he asked me. "I might've had a chat with him which he probably didn't like. But so what.. I don't trust him, and neither should you", I replied. "But why? What has he done to make you feel this way?", Kurapika asked me. I looked at the fire and sighed. "You wouldn't understand".

"Well try us", Gon replied

"So, you're the kid that caught the arrow, huh?", I heard a man say. He wasn't alone though. Like I expected.. no, there were more. A lot more.. 5 no.. 6 people in total. All man, but only muscle, not really brains..

I slowly stood up using my arms to push me up. I turned to the man. "I guess thats me", I said as wiped some dirt from my pants.

"Well well, look at you", he started while gaining a smile on his face, "acting all though now aren't we? To scare the bad guys away? We'll its not working for ya, buddy". My eyes suddenly shot up to his. That word, buddy.. i don't like it when people use that.. it.. brings back memories.

"Don't call me buddy and no, I'm not trying to chase you away, I've actually been waiting for you", I said. The 5 pther man slowly started to surround me. "I know you've been watchin me since I was sitting in front off the campfire". "Well would you look at that, a kid like you has some awareness off his surrounding. To bad you made the wrong choice to come here alone".

"You think it's the wrong one? I just
didn't want any off my friends to get hurt".
