Friday morning...

Ella's POV

School had just finished. I realized I really have not written anything for my school project in a while because I have been so distracted with my mom's being home.

I jumped off the chair and ran to my moms room.

"I AM SO TIRED."

"Well, you have dance and then we're going to Rossi's." My mom said smiling.

"Right."

I went to my room and changed into my clothes for dance. We only had one class today for an hour.

"El! Alex is here!"

"Going Mama!"

When I got downstairs she handed me my water bottle.

"Remind Alex that she is welcome for dinner! Also remember I need you home as soon as possible!"

"OK! BYE! LOVE YOU!" I said while closing the door.

"Hey Lexxxx."

"Hey Belleeee."

During our drive we listened to music and asked her about dinner. Her parents were home so she wasn't going to go today.

After dance...

I got dropped off at my house and my moms were already getting dressed.

I peaked my head in their room.

"Hey babes. How was dance?" Mom said while brushing her hair, I could hear Mama still in the shower.

"It was fun but tiring."

"Still up for dinner then?"

"Yeah I should be ok."

She nodded and I went to my room to shower.

I got dressed into a cute white tennis skirt and pink sweater. I blow dried my hair and curled in and then put it into a ponytail.

"Ready Ella?"

"Yes!"

I grabbed my phone and charger and ran down to meet my moms before we got in the car and drove to Uncle Dave's.

When we got there, it seemed to be as we were definitely late.

We went inside and greeted everyone as we sat down at the large dinner table.

ALEX
alex: hey, r u at dinner already?
me: yeah? why? everything ok?
alex: yeah dw about it
me: come over, they saved you a seat anyway
alex: be there in ten

I love her parents. But seeing her like this broke my heart. She deserves to have them around. I'm glad we have each other.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Mama shot me a death glare when I took my phone out. I excused myself to the bathroom so she wouldn't be too upset.

"Everything ok?" I wiped the two tears running down my face and smiled at myself in the mirror.

"Yup." I opened the door and walked right past her sitting back at my seat to finish eating.

When everyone moved outside I walked to the gate to let Alex in. I knew she was hurt put she never shows emotion. She's strong.

I hugged her and we went to go sit on the couches outside. I saw my both my mom's face notice what happened.

She rested her head on my shoulder and began to text her boyfriend.

"OOOO is someone texting Jake?"

"Yes. Now leave me be."

"Geez. Fineee."

"We need to find you a boyfriend." She said perking up.

"No... no we don't. I have too much to focus on." Alex. Don't poke at it. Please.

"You are no fun." She said laying back down.

After about ten minutes of me scrolling through instagram, I landed on someone's account. I think she was in my summer class. Her name was Leah. I stalked her account for a while and then noticed she went to my school and was on the debate team.

I thought that was cool because I'm student body president and our clubs do joint meetings a lot.

Wow. She's pretty.

No. Focus. Little miss perfect. Isn't that what your moms call you?

"Girls! Get over here!" Aunt Penny said calling us over to dance with the adults.

We both looked at eachother and ran to the middle of them all to dance around.

Back home around 11pm...

"I can't believe they locked you out." Mama said closing our front door as all four of us made our way inside.

"It's ok Emily. They said they'll be home on Monday. I can crash in the tent in my backyard."

"Alex are you crazy?! You are staying here."

"It's ok. I promise."

"No. You are staying here."

"Fine fine. Thank you guys. Really."

They smiled and we ran upstairs. Alex showered and I changed into pajamas and we sat on my bed putting on a movie.

We both like to paint and color so I colored and she painted. My mom popped their heads in to say goodnight and then we got a random call from Uncle Spence.

"Hey Ella. I need a favor. Go to the edition of your To Kill A Mockingbird and tell me the first word on page 112."

"Ummm... ok?"

I stood up, going to my book shelf and grabbing the book. I knew where all my books were.

"The."

"Thank El! Love you! Bye!"

He said really fast and then hung up. Alex and I died laughing.

She was tired so around 1 she fell asleep and I stayed up to do my assignment for the day.

Here we go.

Middle school. Full of bullies and long nights alone. I was trusted. We had a panic button and live 5 minutes from the police.  It wasn't that I didn't feel safe. I just didn't want to have to grow up and lose the sense of my parents being there all the time. These are the years where I got extremely close to Alex. Her parents were gone way more often and we lived 5 minutes away from each other. We would take the bus to the BAU after school and do homework there until dance. After dance if no one was home to pick us up, we would Uber or walk. We were always there for each other. My parents around more often then hers. She was always around. The strongest girl I know. Tried to hide her emotions so they wouldn't affect others. Alex. Lex Lex. Lex. She was always there. The girl who loves dance and paint and listen to Taylor Swift and run around in the rain. She would sleep over when I was lonely. She was always there to hang out. We had so much in common. Spent an equal amount of time with her boyfriend and best friend. I never dated. Never found boys attractive... I don't know. I think I'm confused. I know.. my moms would support me of course but I don't know. Alex didn't know. How could I tell her? She'd be upset I kept the secret. No she wouldn't. I don't know. The everlasting battle in my head. I love her like my sister. She would always be there. No matter what. Now... how would I tell her I had a crush? Not...on a boy...
