Another chance

Present Day

"Chaewon-ah, Chaewon-ah. It's time for breakfast. Wakey wakey." Y/n tried to wake his wife up. He woke up one hour earlier to prepare breakfast for her.

"Mmm, what's the time now?" Chaewon opened her heavy eyelids and see the clock. "Oh no! I didn't prepare breakfast for the kids" She quickly got up, pushing Y/n off her and out the door.

"Haewon, Jiwon, !!! Wake up, it's time for school!!!" She ran to the kids room, only to find it empty and tidied. "I already sent the kids to their grandparents house, it must have been awhile since they seen them ." She turned to see Y/n who was standing behind her. Chaewon hugged him and thanked him.

"Thank you Y/n. The kids must have been hard to manage right." "Nah, it's okay. This is nothing compared to what you face everyday for us."

As they walked down to the living room. She see that on the table is two plates of breakfast. On the plate is a heartwarming meal made with love by her husband. "Here, you go. Let's have breakfast, shall we?" Chaewon smiled and nodded.

As they were eating, Y/n suddenly took a ring and a ring from under the table. "Happy 10th wedding anniversary, honey." He smiled at her cute surprised reaction. "But.. I didn't prepare anything for you.. I'm sorry I forgot about the date." Chaewon said while lowering her head down as she felt bad that she forgot about it.

"You being my wife and our 2 kids is already my present." Y/n said, holding her hands.

After they finished eating. They both laid down on the bed together, cuddling and looking at each other lovingly. "I can't believe it's been 10 years since we got married." Chaewon started saying.
"Yeah, remember how you didn't want to break up with that guy after learning about our arranged marriage?"
"Don't mention about him to me. He is a jerk. He acted as if it doesn't matter if I have an arranged marriage but he cheated on me."
"Remember how during our first few dates, you just were texting him on your phone and just ignoring me? And me trying to get your attention," Y/n said smiling as he thought of the old days.
"And you moved me with your sincere love." Chaewon said while giving a peck to Y/n.

"Chaewon-ah, it must have been hard for you taking care of this family, house and the kids. I feel sorry that I couldn't help you."
"It's okay, it's my duty as your wife. I'm a housewife and I enjoyed taking care of this family although it's tiring.
"Speaking of kids, do you want to have another one?" Y/n asked, looking at her in the eyes
Chaewon blushed, "I'm fine with the situation in our family right now.. But we can have some fun right now since the kids are out." She pushed Y/n down and looks at him seductively. They smiled at each other.

Few hours later...

Chaewon woke up, feeling tired. She sees Y/n sleeping peacefully next to her, she smiles as she caress his face. She suddenly feels a sense of discomfort on her chest. She took a deep breath in and out. Then Y/n wakes up at the same time, "mmm, honey are you fine?" "Yeah, I was just feeling little unwell. Maybe I will just sleep it off."

"Was I too rough on you?" Y/n asked, laughing softly. Chaewon  blushed and hit his shoulders softly.

Over the next few days, as Chaewon was taking of the kids and do housework. She would constantly feel like a sense of discomfort on her chest. After putting the kids to their afternoon nap, she decided to go to the hospital for a health check up.

She felt nervous as she did the various body check and tests. Then she is told that her health check up results will be given to her through the mail in 2-3 days.

For the next 2-3 days, Chaewon felt uneasy about the test results and would always be thinking about what would happen if she suffered a major illness.

Chaewon was eating dinner with the kids and Y/n when the kids were calling her and she didn't respond. "Mom! Mom! I'm full, can we go to play in our room now?"
"Mom? Mom!!!" That shook Chaewon and she quickly answered the kids."Oh sure. Have fun playing, my babies."
"Yay" The kids cheered as they ran to their room and play.
"Chaewon, are you okay? You looked listless these few days." Y/n asked, concerned about her.
"Erm it's nothing. Don't worry." She smiled at him.

The next day, as the children are having their afternoon nap. The health test results were out and the report shows that she has gotten cancer. Not willing to believe this, she called the doctor. "Yes, unfortunately,  this is true. You have a hereditary condition which does not allow you to be too tired. And due to long term stress and fatigue, you have gotten this illness. However-."
Chaewon hang up the call and broke down in tears. She felt so helpless, she didn't want to die and leave her children or Y/n...

After calming herself down, she wanted to take a walk to let everything settle down for her. As she was walking around the neighbourhood, she walk past a jewellery shop.

To her biggest surprise, she sees Y/n with another woman picking out a jewellery. She feels betrayed and goes inside to confront him.

Y/n's POV

"This will look good on Chaewon right? You said she likes this kind of design?" I asked Minju who is Chaewon's best friend. Nothing will go wrong if I ask Minju's opinion on the present that I am going to give her.

Chaewon has been listless these few days, she's probably too tired taking care of me and the kids. This present will cheer her up, I thought.

"Yea, Chaewon would love this present." Minju agreed with me. Just as I finished paying, I saw Chaewon walking in quickly towards me. I thought she knew that I was in the area with Minju and had come to hang out with me. But she looks angry as she is walking towards me.

Suddenly, *Slap!*. Chaewon slapped my face painfully. "How could you cheat on me with my best friend!" Chaewon broke out in tears as she said that and ran away. I looked confused and quickly understood that she must have misunderstood me and Minju's reason for being at the store.

"Go chase after her!" Minju pushed me softly. I quickly ran after her. As I chased up to her, I stopped her and she looked at me sadly. "It's not what you think, I was there to-" I tried explaining but Chaewon cut me off. "You know I got cancer? The doctor said it's because of long term stress and fatigue of taking care of our family! But you have been cheating on me?"

She continued running towards our house. The news of her having cancer to me was like a hammer knocking on my head. She ran so fast and I couldn't chase up to her. The jewellery box almost fell out of my hands and I quickly jumped over to catch it.

No one's POV

Although Y/n had tore his elbows saving the necklace from falling out of the box, he felt relieved and smiled like a fool. Then he ran to his house quickly despite his elbows hurting.

Once he reached home, he sees the kids outside his and Chaewon's room where Chaewon had locked herself up and cried. He quickly calmed the kids down and assured them it was nothing while preparing their food and tell them to not come out for the time being.

"Chaewon-ah, come out okay? Let me explain things to you. Its not what you think it is."
Y/n was worried she might do something silly and force opened the door. Chaewon sees him at the door and cries harder. Y/n slowly walks to her and say "it's okay, it's all a misunderstanding, as for your illness, I will stand by you. Don't worry, ok."
"Don't lie to me, you were so happy with Minju. I can't believe this. If I had the chance, I would rather not fall in love with you!" Chaewon shouted impulsively with a mixture of sad and angry emotions.
Y/n/s heart sank and he walked out of the door slowly. "Why wouldn't you believe me..." And walk into his room.
As the night falls, they both laid in bed, mind blank...

The next day

"Chaewon! Chaewon! Wake up, it's time for breakfast!" Chaewon woke up to hear her mother's voice waking her up. She sees around her and sees her old room in her old house when living with her parents.  "Where am I?" She walks out of the room and sees her parents eating at the table. "You woke up late today. You okay?" Her father asked as Chaewon looks confused.
