summary:

When the day breaks
I'll sleep by your side again
I fall asleep under the stars
And it's like I have the whole universe
In your arms, the stars spill
And make the milky way
I can fly anywhere

Bolbbalgan4- Galaxy

yin is six years old when he first sees a shadow of a tiny person moving inside a makeshift tent. he clearly remembers what his mom said, the boy's name is war, son of his mom's friend and the said boy is older than him.

he stands stiffly as he watches the other boy move under the tent. he feels uncomfortable and shy but he summon up the courage and takes a step forward. his hand is already stretched out to pull the fabric to open the tent, but the boy yells, stopping all his movements.

"you can't come in." the older boy shrieks. "once you enter my world, you cant get out." he yells again that made yin take a step back, immediately letting go of the fabric.

"p, lets be friends.." yin suggests, "what do i need to do for you to allow me inside?"

the older boy remains quiet for a minute before talking, "what's the password?" he asks. "if you're correct, i'll let you in."

"how about a clue?" yin has absolutely no idea, but he needs to try. he is never the type of kid that gives up easily. he cant deny that he's also curious whats inside the tent, curious about the other boy.
"hmm.. war?"

the boy peeks his head through the fabric, looks at yin with wide eyes, "that's my name! how did you know my name?"

"is that your password? can i get inside your tent now?" yin starts to get impatient.

"this is not a tent. i told you, this is my world!" war pauses, "you can enter but first you have to tell me your name." he says bashfully different from how he talked to yin earlier.

"yin. im yin." he says with a smile.

yin looks carefully at war's proud face as he shows him whats inside the tent. the tent contains pillows, blankets, toys like robots, rocket ship, airplanes and nothing more. it looks ordinary inside as it is outside. war's hopeful eyes find him, as if waiting for him to say something.
"interesting" yin says and maybe he wants to be a part of war's world too.

they spend their entire afternoon playing and talking. yin found out that war likes the moon and stars.
they turned war's tent into a space ship as they travel to the moon, the stars and the other planets.

"galaxy. i'll change the password to galaxy." war says proudly.

yin nods and agrees.

yin is fourteen and still crawls over to war's room almost every day. their parents know that if they could find one of them, they'd find both. even though war is two years older, yin is still his best friend. they would study together or more like yin studying and war lazing around, watch movies, play video games and do random things together. everyday is a new adventure.

war finally removes the makeshift tent but still kept the password for his room. now it changes every week, depeding on his mood — from anakin skywalker to darth vader to i am your father. yin actually hates the passwords especially the long ones but he cant do anything about it. its war's room anyway.

yin is sixteen when he cried after saying goodbye to his best friend. war is headed off to college. in all honesty, everyone expected him to go to a university near by. war never said why he choose a university far from home but yin is proud of him. he knows that war is smarter than he let most believe. while yin is happy for him, it still hurt.

war would make time for him, visits him from time to time, would message him constantly, they call each other every night, war reassures him that he is still his bestfriend and yin is pleased.

yin is eighteen when it was his turn to graduate in highschool. at first, he wanted to get into the university war is currently attending, however university far from home is something he didnt like. yin doesnt want to separate from his grandmother, he mainly applied for war's sake. he chooses a university 30 minutes from home.

they still try to talk to each other whenever they could. the past months were hard for yin that many calls left unanswered, messages left unread, rejected invitations for him to come over war's room and before yin knows it he already distanced himself.

they are in different worlds now, galaxies far from each other. yin wants these thoughts to stop but the uncertainty is scary. no more playtime, they arent children anymore, that much is certain.

yin chooses not to answer.

yin is eighteen when he knocks at war's room after ignoring the older for months. war is home for the holidays.

"p'war, its yin. open up."

no one is opening the door but he hears a voice.

"whats the password?"

"galaxy.. is galaxy still valid?"  he answers the first word that flashed through his mind.

"no. changed it already. go away .."

"can i guess again? im sorry." silence met yin.
"IM SORRY" he repeats, this time louder "and i love you."

the words came out easily, like he's meant to say it long time ago yet fear made him not say it. fear of losing their friendship, of what they have, or worst of losing war.
when he realizes he's inlove with war, it took him distance and time to fully understand it. he thinks he's ready now but maybe war doesnt feel the same. wave of frustration crashes through him but he tries to contain because he doesn't have the right, not when he's the one who stopped replying, the one who stopped picking up the phone, the one who stopped visiting war's room, the one who disappointed war and letting him down.

he was about to leave when the door slowly opens, war peeking and staring at him.
"its about time you ass.  you made me wait long enough.."

they embraced tightly, yin pushes war inside the room.
"then, how about a confirmation?"

"iloveyoutoo.. maybe ever since you entered my tent.." war answers, his eyes shines bright, like galaxies are trapped inside, lighting up yin's world and also his universe.

"where are going today, p?"

"not a place. today we are going to time travel."

"time travel sounds fun p'. i want to see us older. do you think we're still friends after many years? lets go to the time when you are thirty."

"why thirty?"

"so, i can confirm if i got to marry you."
