Charles called Diana's doctors after she regained consciousness. When she woke up and called his name he felt a heavy weight off his chest and great joy seeing his wife awake and getting better.

After the doctors were done conducting tests on Diana, Dr. Piers called Charles inside to discuss with the two of them on what will come next at Diana's road to recovery. Charles took a seat at Diana's bedside and held her hand that she returned.

Both of them listened to Dr. Piers but both can't help taking glances at one another. Diana noticed the shadow that formed under his eyes from lack of sleep and the stubble that was now growing. She can see how miserable he's been since her accident from worrying too much about her condition.

Charles also took notice of Diana's face, despite the scratches in her face she still looked beautiful.

After Dr. Piers explained everything Charles asked him a question.

"When can my wife return home?"

"Wife, home?" Diana thought and wondered what Charles play was.

"She can return as soon as possible your royal highness if you can arrange the royal physician to meet me as soon possible I can discuss in detail what Princess Diana's home care and rehabilitation will be."

"That is good news. I will make arrangements for the royal physician to meet you as soon as possible so my wife can return home and recover with our family."

Dr. Piers excused himself and left Charles and Diana alone.

"I noticed you called me your wife Charles and even watched your press conference while the doctors checked on me this morning. What does it mean when you said to them that I will always be your wife? That you are worried about me as much as everyone else whose hearts I touched, and that once I am well and fully recovered you will ask me to marry me again?" Diana braced her heart prepared to take whatever Charles has to say.

Charles knew Diana will confront him anytime soon about his bold statements, what better time to explain to her everything but now.

"I meant every word I said Diana, and I mean it for real this time." He looked into her blue eyes telling Diana and her soul that what he said was true.

Diana avoided his gaze, despite everything that happened to them a part of her will always love him and that's what scares her... another heartbreak from him.

"I have let her go Diana, I had a word with her a few days ago and she told me that she will not interfere with us anymore because she saw my feelings for you. There will never be a crowd in our marriage this time and I mean it. It will only be you, me and our children. Just give me this last chance to prove myself to you, to make up for everything I did to hurt you and for destroying our family."

"Charles..." Diana can't stop the tears the flowed from her eyes.

Charles placed his hands on her face and wiped her tears, "I love you Diana, I am sorry for realizing it just now when I almost lost you."

With the strength she can muster Diana embraced him.

"You know my feelings already Charles. I loved you before and will always love you."

Charles smiled a genuine smile he used to show to Diana before, "Do you want to talk to our sons? I am sure they'll be happy to hear your voice again."

Diana nodded and Charles handed her his satellite phone.

"I will leave you for a while, I have to ask my secretary to arrange for the royal physician to come here tomorrow and prepare for our travel back home." Charles informed Diana and gave her a peck on the lips before leaving her alone to talk with their sons.

"Mum? Is that really you?"  William asked.

"Yes son it is me your mum, is Harry with you?"

"I am here mum." Harry answered.

"I am so glad I can talk to you again after what happened, I was afraid I may never have a chance to talk to you again." Diana said through tears.

William and Harry both cried with their mom, "We miss you and dad, we were worried about you. We were afraid of not seeing you again. When will you and dad come home?"

"Soon my sons, your father is already arranging for our return home."

"Father promised us before he left mum, that we will be a family again. William and I believe him so please give him a chance to prove himself."  Harry said to his mum.

Charles immediately asked his secretary to arrange for the royal physician's travel to Paris and to prepare for their flight back home and to arrange Diana's room back in Highgrove. He decided for them to stay at Highgrove for the trees surrounding the estate will help in Diana's recovery and also to show to his friends in Highgrove that he's changed and that Diana is his priority now.

"Your royal highness, the press would like to interview you and lady Diana if possible. They want to know lady Diana's condition now that she regained conciousness and the status of your relationship."

"Diana's still recovering can't the press wait until she's fully recovered?" Charles asked in frustration, Diana just woke up from her coma that morning and the press that almost got her killed already want to have word with her.

"You can always decline your royal highness." His secretary adjusted his tie, "I don't mean to pry but if you want to make things work with lady Diana, you must show to her that you are willing to share her with the public who adores her."

Charles listened to his secretary and understood his point, "I will ask her about it, thanks."

"How are they?" Charles asked Diana when he returned to her room.

"They are fine, they miss us and can't wait to see us again. I told them not to worry about me anymore, and that we are coming home soon." Diana answered.

Charles nodded and smiled at her after she looked more lively after talking to their sons. He saw Diana's eyes that will always lit up when talking about William and Harry, her pride and joy. The sons she carried for him, his heirs, the product of their love.

"How about your siblings, have you called them?"

"Yes, they are glad to hear me alive and well. They also told me how you arranged for them to see me here in the hospital and how much worried you are when I was fighting for my life."

Charles nodded, "About your companion during the accident, Mr. Dodi Fayed and the driver...I am sorry but they did not make it. Your bodyguard made it and gave his statements about the accident."

Diana frowned and cried, Dodi did nothing but show her care and appreciation even if she told him she can never love him. It was an unfortunate accident no one wanted to happen, she was just lucky to make it out alive.

"Charles...can I at least talk to Dodi's brother? I feel like I owe him and I have something to return to him."

"Of course, I will arrange for it."

Diana saw Charles staring at his signet ring, she knew him long enough to know he would always do that whenever he's in deep thought.

"Charles...is there something on your mind?" Diana called and he stopped what he was doing.

"My secretary informed me that the press would like to interview the two of us as soon as possible. They want to know the latest about your condition and about 'us'."

"What did you tell your secretary?" Diana asked. Knowing Charles he would like to keep the part about 'them' a private matter.

"That I would ask you if you are willing to do the interview." Charles said to her, for the first time he asked for her opinion and did not decide for her.
