A Love That Should Be

After the announcement of their engagement Charles and Diana went out together publicly like they did when they were married before. Prince Charles and the royal family earned the trust and love of the public again after the anouncement of their second engagement. Although some haters of the monarchy are still doubtful of their renewed relationship and are thinking that prince Charles and the royal family are using Diana for the people to love them again.

Charles was not happy at the newspaper article acussing him and his family of using Diana for their own gain, he almost tore the paper but Diana stopped him.

"Morning paper riled you up again?" Diana asked and took her seat opposite of Charles at the table.

"Yes, they can't get enough of our family. They even almost killed you just to get a picture." He said bitterly the memory of Diana's accident still pains him to this day.

"They will always be part our lives Charles. Their opinion doesn't matter, we will not let them destroy us again." Diana said before taking a sip of her coffee.

"How you managed to live with them hounding on you every chance they got I will never understand."

"There were times when I hate them especially when I am spending private time with William and Harry when they were still kids. But later I got used to them and I just let them take pictures of me whenever they want."

After eating breakfast, Charles looked at his watch and remembered he had a meeting that morning.

"I'll see you at Westminster abbey for the wedding rehearsal this afternoon, I have to meet with some people in the renewable energy sector this morning." Charles said and kissed Diana on the cheek before leaving.

Despite announcing their desire to have a private wedding ceremony, the people still crowded and camped near Westminster abbey wanting to see their beloved prince and princess renewing their vows of marriage.

"We really can't control them." Charles said with a sigh after seeing the people around the abbey.

"The security detail of the royal family and the local police already surrounded the abbey your royal highness but the people were just too many for them to handle." His secretary said.

"I can see that. Maybe they are just happy for me and Diana."

Charles waved to the crowd before entering the abbey where his family and Diana's family are already waiting. He noticed Diana and his sons were not yet present.

"Where are they?" He asked to his brother Edward.

"They are on the way, Diana picked up your sons from their schools before going here. How about you meet up and talk with the bishop first, Diana and your sons will arrive soon."

Charles agreed and went to the bishop to talk with him.

Not long after the car carrying Diana, William and Harry arrived that got the crowd screaming so loud it can be heard inside the abbey.

"I think my family's here. I will meet them outside will you excuse me?" Charles said to the bishop and walked outside the abbey to meet his family.

Charles opened the door of the car to help Diana out, his sons followed after their mother and the whole family waved to the crowd making them scream louder before they all entered the abbey.

Diana, William and Harry showed their respect to the queen and other members of the royal family before the wedding rehearsal commenced.

After the wedding rehearsal everyone went straight to Buckingham palace where they will all spend the night before the wedding. A dinner feast was commenced in the palace to celebrate the wedding in advance.

When they were done eating, Charles and Diana stayed at the drawing room of the palace alone watching the fireworks display outside through the window in honor of their upcoming wedding. Charles have his arm around Diana's shoulder while Diana's leaning her head on his chest listening to the beating of his heart.

"Remeber the night before our first wedding?" Charles asked remembering the words he said to her.

Diana nodded.

"I am sorry for that night. I know how sad you are during the wedding despite the smile you are showing everyone."

"I should have run away then, let you get over your feelings for Camilla and wait until you are certain that I am the one you want to marry." Diana said, she now understood why Charles acted the way he did to her before, he was pressured by his family to marry her the sacrificial lamb as she described when he was still in love with someone else.

"I was an unfair husband to you the first time we were married, never did I consider your feelings thinking you were still young and will never understand me. I never saw that you were hurting as much as I did because I refused to acknowledge your feelings."

"Charles, I loved you then and I love you still until my last breath."

Charles kissed Diana passionately showing her he also feels the same towards her. "I love you and will love you until my last breath, so make me the proudest and happiest man tomorrow by marrying me with God as our witness."

Although Charles and Diana originally planned a private wedding and not a state wedding, with the world already waiting in anticipation of their second wedding, they changed it into a state wedding the last minute. People surrounded the abbey and the roads leading to the abbey just to catch a glimpse at Charles and Diana on their wedding day.

For their second wedding media coverage was limited and only allowed BBC to cover the wedding and broadcast it live to the world.

Charles wore his formal suit with his rank and medals pinned on it. His youngest son, Harry who also carries their wedding ring accompanied him from Buckingham palace to the abbey to wait for his mother and brother who are now on their way to the abbey.

Diana's wedding gown was made by the same designers who did her first wedding gown. It was a white off shoulder gown adorned by swarovzky crystals all over, the trail of the gown was shorter and duchesse satin was used as the material for the gown making the gown flow beautifully as she will walk down the aisle. William accompanied her mother from Clarence house to the abbey where his father and Harry are already waiting for them.

Charles and Diana's favorite hymns and songs were played inside the abbey throughout the wedding ceremony.

When it was time for the vows, Charles and Diana both cried when saying their vows. This time Charles meant every vow he said to his wife.

On February 18, 1998, Prince Charles Philip Arthur George and Diana Frances Spencer had their second wedding.
