Chapter 27: Lunch

Taehyun and Chaeryeong

Taehyun knocks on the door of a familiar apartment as he waits outside with a bouquet of flowers behind his back. After a few seconds, the door opens but it wasn't Chaeryeong. He smiles, "Hi, Noona."

Chaeyeon, Chaeryeong's older sister, says, "Hey, Tae. You know you can call me Chaeyeon, right?" He replies, "O-oh sorry." She giggles and asks, "So do you call Chaeryoung noona too or is it just me?" He replies, "She doesn't like it when I call her noona." Suddenly, another girl joins in, "TAEHYUN!!!! You're back already?"

Chaeyeon chuckles and adds, "Yeah, he seems to visit often doesn't he?" Chaemin, Chaeryeong's younger sister, says, "Because he looooooooves Chaeryoung unnie!"

"Who's at the door?"

Chaemin adds cutely, "You're boyfriend~~~ He loooooves you~~~" Chaeyeon giggles and pulls Chaemin aside, "You going now?" Chaeryeong nods as she walks out her apartment. Her sister and herself were already in college while their younger sister was in the middle of high school so they ended up sharing an apartment because it was ideal for everyone.

Taehyun went to the same college Chaeryeong did and he made frequent visits to her apartment so her sisters knew him very well and fortunately they were nice to him.

As Chaeryeong close her apartment door behind her, Taehyun brings out the flowers and says, "Ta dah! Flowers for my flower." Chaeryeong smiles and takes a hold of them then sniffs their floral scent. She thanks, "They're beautiful but..." Taehyun raises an eyebrow and she asks, "I thought you were taking me to lunch with your parents? Why give me flowers?" He thinks for a bit and says, "Not sure. There's never a bad time for flowers though."

Chaeryeong smiles and nods, "True." Taehyun then says, "We should get going, wouldn't want my parents waiting." She uses one hand to hold the flowers while she reaches out with her other wanting him to hold hers. Taehyun suddenly remembers something and says, "Wait!" Chaeryeong puts her hand down confused as he pulls out a digital camera from his back pocket.

Taehyun says, "My dad got me a camera recently and said I should take as much photos of you before I regret not saving them." Chaeryeong smiles, "Your dad does seem like the sentimental type." He then holds the camera near his eye and says, "Cheese!" Chaeryeong smiles with the flowers as Taehyun snaps the picture.

Taehyun glances at the finished project and says, "Beautiful." She replies, "Shouldn't we take one of ourselves?" He stutters, "O-oh, yeah." He then moves to her side Chaeryeong places the flowers in between them. Taehyun says, "3... 2-" Chaeryeong suddenly interrupts, "Wait."

He glances to his side and Chaeryeong uses her free hand to take a hold of his free hand and places it around her waist. Taehyun's eyes widen as he tries to move his hand back to mind his manners but Chaeryeong makes sure he wraps his arm around her.

Taehyun's other hand starts to shake a bit flustered but he chooses to steady his arm so this pose could end quickly. He counts, "T-three, two, and..." He snaps the picture and instantly locks his arms with hers instead of holding her waist. Chaeryeong also glances at it and smiles, "Perfect. Let's go?" He nods and they walk to his car in a semi full parking lot. There were a few people there so Taehyun says, "Wait."

Chaeryeong stops in her tracks and he turns and kisses her cheek. She instantly blushes and whispers, "What was that for?" He snickers, "That's for making me hold your waist." Chaeryeong looks around a bit embarrassed and luckily no one was looking at her. She playfully glares at Taehyun and he responds with a wink. They then enter the car and silently drive to the restaurant his parents were waiting at.

Chaeryeong quickly looks out the window and asks, "Wait, we're eating here? Isn't this where Hyuka is having his dinner?" Taehyun says, "Ummm, yeah my parents said it was the best." She says, "B-but I wanted to treat them for lunch and this place is a bit... too much for a college student." Taehyun says, "O-ohh... They said they were just gonna force Jin to give us a free lunch." Chaeryeong pouts and he says, "You can always buy us desert. My parents don't look like it but they can eat a lot. We can go for ice cream after and you can treat them there."

Chaeryeong looks up and smiles noticing him trying to make the situation better. She says, "O-okay, I'll do that." Taehyun then stops the car and they both leave the car in front of Saranghae Hotel. The valet takes his keys to park his car and Taehyun smiles and thanks him. Chaeryeong takes a hold of his arm and says, "I never realized but this place is really fancy." Taehyun nods as they enter the hotel and walk all the way to a restaurant on the 3rd floor.

Coincidentally, Sana and Taehyung arrived at the same time. Sana smiles and runs to the two and pulls them in a tight hug and kisses both their cheeks. She says, "Chaeryeong, have you ever eaten here before?" Chaeryeong shakes her head and Sana says excitedly, "You're gonna love it! We can order everything on the menu." Chaeryeong smiles a bit shyly. Sana's explosiveness and bubbliness always surprised her. People would think Sana would calm down as she aged but she's still the same explosive hamster from her youth.

Taehyung then takes his camera and takes a picture of the two girl hugging and Taehyun notices then does the same. They then move to their table with Taehyun sitting next to Chaeryeong and his parents in front of them.

Taehyung ended up ordering for the table and he chose a lot of food so they had a large amount of choices. Chaeryeong have met his parents countless of times, such as right before the zombie apocalypse and other times after Korea was restored but they never had lunch at such a formal place before so she was a bit nervous.

The waitress places the drinks on the table and Taehyung takes a sip then places it down slowly. He then says out of the blue, "So when are you two going to get married?"

Chaeryeong's eyes widen as Taehyun blushes at both embarrassment and in shock. He stutters, "D-dad! We're still in college."

Taehyung says, "You know, son. I usually don't have any regrets in life because lets be honest... my life is awesome. But, I did have a few and one of them was not finding your mom earlier." Taehyun turns to Chaeryeong still embarrassed and stutters, "I-ignore him." She giggles as Sana says, "You don't have to marry anytime soon, your dad is just joking around."

The two glance at Sana but she continues, "But you have to promise us that you're giving us grandkids." Taehyun's blush returns, "MOM!" Sana keeps her serious face, "What? I just want to play with my grandkids, is that too much to ask?" Taehyun turns to glance at Chaeryeong and he's taken by surprised seeing her calm demeanor.

She turns to meet his eyes and says, "Well go head, promise them." Taehyun's blush turns even more red as she smiles seeing him at that state. Taehyun turns back to his parents who were smiling cheekily at him as he whispers, "Okay, fine I promise." Chaeryeong adds to the joke, "So are you asking to marry me?"

Taehyung mutters, "W-what?" She breaks into a laughter and his parents join her as Taehyun chugs his entire glass of water. The food comes in and Sana says, "Okay, enough teasing. Let's enjoy this lunch?" Taehyung takes his glance and raises it, "To love and future grandchildren."

Everyone cheers with him with their glasses and they enjoy the rest of their lunch.
