Chapter 28: Picnic

Hyunjin, Somi, Chan, and Jeongin

Somi jokes, "That movie was lame."

Chan adds, "When you live through a zombie apocalypse, all zombie movies will be less intense." She chuckles and says, "It wasn't even realistic. Zombies can't open doors, they can only smash through them! Plus, their brains are sort of responsive to sounds around them so their growling isn't completely random."

Hyunjin scoffs and says, "Look at the zombie expert. Who's idea was to watch that movie anyway?" Jeongin stays quiet shyly on the side feeling bad for recommending that zombie movie and this catches Somi's eye. She suddenly feels guilt and says, "It wasn't that bad of a movie."

Hyunjin turns to her confused while Jeongin glances at her with a hint of happiness. Hyunjin says, "You said it was lame." Somi tries to reason, "It wasn't completely lame. Maybe we were just being hard on it but you know... we're just thinking too much and it ruins it." Chan asks, "What's with you changing your opinions so easily?"

Jeongin stays quiet as Somi adds, "Well, it was a great way to start off our day with Jeongin! We technically met him in the apocalypse so it's poetic we watch a zombie movie together when he comes back." Jeongin smiles, "Yeah." She suddenly feels happy seeing that cute smile as she ruffles his hair and asks, "So what else have you planned?"

Hyunjin and Chan exchange glances then turn to the two with a weird stare. Jeongin says, "Not sure, maybe we can go to a club or a bar."

Hyunjin and Chan instantly wear smiles while Somi stares at him a bit surprised, "Japan did change you."

Jeongin suddenly gets shy, "W-what?" Somi shakes her head, "No! It's a good change!" Chan adds, "But bars are too loud and if we go to a club then you'll be flocked by girls." Hyunjin adds, "Yeah, I can see that. How about... we get some beer and Soju and have a small picnic."

Somi adds, "I can order pizza." Jeongin says, "I can buy the blanket." They all smile after setting up a new plan. Once they all went and bought their own things, they met up at a nearby park. The movie they watched was around night time and Jimin told Jeongin that he should come back as late as possible. So here they were in a park at midnight with bottles of soju and cans of beer and three boxes of pizza.

Hyunjin says, "I don't think we've ever drank together before." Somi adds, "We have just not with Jeongin." Chan says, "Then he should do a toast!"

They all turn to Jeongin as he holds a beer can in his right hand. He starts to think for a bit then asks, "What do we usually do a toast for?" Chan says, "Usually, a bright future or good luck." Jeongin thinks for a bit then says, "Ummm.... To a bright future!"

Somi chuckles as Hyunjin says, "You can't just repeat what he said." Jeongin then thinks again then says, "To no more zombie apocalypses!"  The three say, "Cheers!" He then thinks of another one, "For our future and safety!"

"Cheers!"

"For our friends and family who are awesome!"

"Cheers!"

Hyunjin suddenly says, "NO MORE! You're taking sips from a beer can, I'm drinking straight from a soju bottle!" The others laugh along while Somi quickly says, "Wait! Don't get wasted yet! Let's play a game!"

They all turn to her and listen as she says, "Let's play never have I ever." Hyunjin says, "Lame." She replies with a punch to his arm and he winces in pain. Chan says, "We drink if we've done it right?" Somi adds, "Of course!" Jeongin asks, "How do you play?"

Hyunjin asks, "You seriously never played this before?" Somi smacks his arm again and she says, "It's simple. I say a statement like "Never have I ever killed someone." and if you did kill someone then you'd take a shot." Chan brings out the plastic shot cups he bought when he bought the drinks and says, "Okay, everyone. Game ends if someone passes out or throws up."

Hyunjin then places his phone down with a number already dialed but not called. He says, "And I can use my sister for a sober driver when we get drunk." Jeongin places his phone down and says, "I can also use my sister."

Somi pours a shot of soju in each cup then says, "Okay, I'll start. We'll do an easy one." She says, "Never have I ever had a sister."

Jeongin asks, "So we drink if we have a sister?" She nods and every single person takes the shot.

Hyunjin glances around and says, "Never have I ever been a zombie." Chan instantly whines, "Yah! This is rigged!" Jeongin takes the shot with no question while Chan does it with a little of reluctance.

Chan glances around and says, "Never have I ever been to the girl's bathroom!" Somi takes the shot then says, "You're petty. You knew that-" Hyunjin then takes a shot and they all turn to him confused. He glances at them and says, "What? You've never been curious what's in there? It smells nicer and they always have paper towels."

Jeongin chuckles as Somi slaps his arm again calling him a pervert. Jeongin then starts to think and snaps his fingers. He says, "Never have I ever thought that Jeongin's parents were hot!"

They stare at him confused as Jeongin smiles feeling proud, "Don't lie to me, you've all seen my parents." Everyone except for Jeongin takes a shot while he smiles proudly at his trick. Chan says, "You're evil for using that." Somi asks, "And how did you know?"

Jeongin says a bit casually, "I hear it a lot... but it's a compliment. If people think my parents are attractive and I'm their son then technically they're saying I'm attractive." Hyunjin stares at him in awe, "You are a genius." He continues to smile brightly as Somi gets to go again.

Somi smirks finding out a way to make all three of them drink. She says, "Never have I ever kissed a girl." Hyunjin and Chan took their shot because they expected her to use this sooner or later while Jeongin doesn't move.

Hyunjin then laughs, "You're lying to us. The ladies love you." Jeongin blushes and says, "Y-yeah but I don't kiss them. I would only kiss my girlfriend and I don't have a-"

Somi moved up and leaned forward until her face was centimeters from Jeongin. She pecks his lips then backs away as she says, "There. Now go take your shot." Jeongin blushes as she casually took his first kiss and Chan says, "Now you can't lie, we're all witnesses." Hyunjin turns to Somi, "You drunk already?" She just giggles.

Jeongin stutters, "S-she- Y-you just-" He looks around to see them oddly normal about this and just takes the shot leaving no questions asked. Hyunjin smirks and says, "Well, two can play this game. Never have I ever kisses a boy."

Somi rolls her eyes and takes the shot while Chan joins her along. Surprisingly no one questioned Chan taking the shot and just went on. Chan then says, "Never have I ever had a crush within the four of us."

Somi and Jeongin take a shot while Hyunjin stares deeply into Chan's eyes. The two share eye contact as they try to seduce each other so they could gain a crush and have to drink. But that only distracted them from the two suddenly shy people by their side.

Jeongin's head starts to get fuzzy due to his low alcohol tolerance as Chan breaks the eye contact and says, "Okay, we should take a break. We barely ate our pizza." Somi nods as Hyunjin says, "Just admit it, you have a crush on me." Chan smirks and says, "Is this your way of telling me you like me?"

Somi interrupts by handing each person a bottled water. Chan then opened up a new box of pizza and throws aside the empty one. Hyunjin notices Jeongin's sleepy facial expression and chuckles, "Alright, no more drinking for you. You have to remember the picnic to enjoy it, so you're a strict only water." Jeongin nods as Somi hands him another water bottle and he smiles, "Thanks." She smiles back, "No problem."

Suddenly, Hyunjin's phone rings and he quickly answers, "Hello?"

The turn to him as he says, "It's only 1 in the morning. Mom's awake? You're at who's house!? YAH YEJI I CAN'T DRIVE! I'VE BEEN DRINKING! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALSO DRANK!?"

Chan jokes, "Well, there goes one of our designated drivers." Somi says, "Well, there's always Ryujin." Jeongin then says, "A-about that. I think she blocked my number again."

Chan and Somi exchange glances and Chan says, "So we walk home, together." Somi says, "My apartment is nearby. You all can crash, it's just me anyway." They all nod and turn back to Hyunjin, "I KNOW YOU'RE AN ADULT BUT DRINKING AT A STRANGER'S HOUSE ISN'T SAFE! I DON'T CARE IF IT'S YOUR BOYFRIEND'S HOUSE! DON'T EVEN COME HOME!"

Jeongin, Chan, and Somi smiles seeing Hyunjin yell at his phone. Chan then asks, "So are you going to Hyuka's dinner?"
