Chapter 24: Reunion

JiNayeon, Yeji, Hyunjin, Somi, and Yeonjun

Hyunjin and Yeonjun back away from the door as two older people walk in. They look around the building to see the three teens waiting for them.

Jin smiles and says, "Do you happen to be Yeji's friends?"

The three look at him in awe as he carries an assault rifle in his hands. Yeji quickly runs in and her eyes meet theirs. Hyunjin smiles as she runs towards them. He opens his arms expecting his sister to run to him but he ended up looking dumb when she ran onto Yeonjun. Somi snickers on the side as Yeonjun lifts her up exclaiming, "Oh my God! Who are they? How are you? Did you get hurt? What happened?"

Yeji giggles as he puts her down and she says with crescent eyes, "It's a long story! I can tell you everything. This is Jin and Nayeon! They own the hotel and they helped me find you!"

Nayeon and Jin smile and wave at them as the teens stare at them in awe. Yeji's eyes widen at a sudden memory and she exclaims, "OH! Bang Chan is also human! Some lady cured him with something and he's at the hotel!"

Somi's eyes widen and Hyunjin's jaw drops. Somi stutters, "W-what? H-he's actually back?" Hyunjin notices the excitement and happiness in his eyes as he tries his best to act cool about it but in reality he was just as happy as she was. Somi jumps up, "Then what are we doing standing around? I bet he misses us! I'm definitely making him pay us back for all the shit we went through for him."

Jin smiles, "Sure, we just have to make sure everyone's fine then we can get a move on." Nayeon looks in her backpack and says, "I brought peanut butter sandwiches in case you were starving. We can get our energy up then we can go."

Nayeon hands them each sandwiches as Jin smirks, "Did you hear about the rumor about peanut butter sandwiches?"

The four look at him confused and curiously while Nayeon was already looking away in second-hand embarrassment.

Hyunjin asks, "What rumor?"

Jin smiles as he perfectly set himself up for the punch line, "Well, I'm not going to spread it!"

Hyunjin, Yeji, and Somi stare at him awkwardly as they watch Jin chuckle at his own joke. The three suddenly hear a laughter behind them and glance at Yeonjun who's face is buried in his arm with tears of laughter in his eyes. Yeji raises an eyebrow as Yeonjun exclaims, "BECAUSE WE SPREAD PEANUT BUTTER!"

Yeji whispers, "I think everyone got the joke..."

Jin smiles hearing the young man laugh at his joke and points at him then glances at Nayeon. He says, "I want to adopt that kid!" Nayeon facepalms and looks away hearing him boast about his successful joke.

They take a small break and prepare to leave but as Jin and Nayeon talk between themselves on their plan on their way back, Yeonjun and Yeji approach them. They turn to the two younger and Yeonjun asks, "Are there other people at the hotel?"

Jin nods his head and says, "There are a handful. They coincidentally know each other too so I wouldn't be surprised if you knew someone me there." Yeonjun just nods back and asks, "Does there so happen to be a couple there? A short one? Their names were Chaeyoung and Yoongi."

Jin looks at him with widened eyes as Nayeon asks, "How do you know Chaeyoung and Yoongi?" Yeonjun says, "They saved us in the beginning! But-" He pauses remembering what happened and says in a low voice, "But we couldn't save them. They told us to go to your hotel and ran off with zombies behind them. I thought that they would've made it to the hotel before us."

Nayeon bites her lip and Jin places his hand on the younger's shoulder. He says, "Sorry but... Chae and Yoongi never made it to the hotel. It doesn't mean they're gone forever." Yeonjun turns to Yeji in disappointment and sadness while she tries to reassure him by holding his hand. He whispers, "I'm sorry..."
