FORGETTING EVERYTHING SHE HAD JUST SEEN
BUT BEING LEFT WITH THE FEELING OF
ADMIRATION,
WORRY,
AND CARE FOR THE STRANGER

***

Driving to Mystic Falls by herself was chaotic for Reign. The entire time her phone had been constantly ringing and dinging with messages and calls from Angelica, Renee, and Darnell. The loud, constant dings made Reign consider throwing her phone out the car window, but instead, she did the most rational thing in her life and turned her phone off.

The twelve-hour car ride to Mystic Falls mainly consisted of her singing/sobbing/shrieking with her favorite songs: Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, The Winner Takes It All by ABBA, My Girl by The Temptations, and a series of breakup songs even though she has never found nor lost love before.

When she'd feel the impulses of smoking or exhaustion, she'd pull over by a rest stop, but she never rested, she just smoked weed or wondered if her brother was okay or not.

But contrary to the other events, Reign saw this trip as a vacation somehow. If she does find her brother and everything is well, she'd happily consider this a friendly visit. Not only that, but this was the only occasion she'd let herself have things such as processed and fast food. Of course, she didn't feel happy about it, but she found her chance and she took it.

Renee would most likely be commenting about how the unhealthy foods she ate would make her bloated, but thankfully Renee isn't with her at the moment. So gorging on the fast/processed foods, sugary drinks, and beer was heaven for her (along with skipping her long workout routines).

The trip to Mystic Falls was actually quite enjoyable.

Having the feeling of freedom was satisfying.

She almost forgot how it felt like to be so content.

By the time she got to Mystic Falls, she knew that the joyous ride would have to be put on hold. She had to remember who she came there for.

When stepping out of her car, she could already see the visible difference Mystic Fall had compared to Philadelphia.

For starters, the town seemed clean, the shops were nice, the people looked well dressed, sidewalks uncracked, etcetera, etcetera.

Meanwhile, Reign's neighborhood in Philadelphia looked like a run-down trashcan that smelled of piss and pollution.

"Hi, have you seen a guy named Rafael Waithe? " Reign asks the nearest person she sees. She honestly didn't know what to do, she didn't have a picture of Rafael, she didn't know if Rafael was still in this town.
