xiaojun's pov

ten's car glided across the tarmac, the headlights illuminating the road ahead. fresh air blew through the car and the wind painfully bit dejuns cheeks, painting them a light red. he looked out at the panorama of rolling hills forming green quilts, crystal lakes and mountains in the distance, all coming together into one sensory scene.

they were far from the city now, the road they were on weaving between fields and greenery. the air had more warmth and fragrance than the industrial city ever would. it felt welcoming, something dejun hadn't felt in quite a while.

ten turned on the radio and the music met his ears in an auditory waft. the classical instruments synchronised with eachother creating a wave of harmonies, well until ten changed the station to your usual generic pop.

both him and sicheng groaned, "chittaphon you bastard" dejun kicked his chair. "what, i was getting bored" ten looked back at him and shrugged.

"isnt the country beautiful" sicheng asked, completely entranced by its elegance. "yeah, i kinda wanna live here now" he ripped his eyes away from the open window for the first time in a while. "oh i see the field"

ten pulled over near a field with a few rides. it was near a glistening river that stretched across the expanse of the greenery. he opened the car door and stepped out onto the grass. "where are we?". "this" ten stepped out of his car, and got closer to him "is where the fireworks are"

_

dejun brushed his hand across the lush grass that was coated in the winter frost, tracing shapes along it. he sat there, drowning in his thoughts as he looked over at the calming subtle ripples of the river.

"hey dejun" yangyang walked over with a pep in his step, hendery trailed solemnly behind. dejun waved in response.

"are you okay, you seem kind of sad" hendery stated, sitting down next to him. dejun looked up and into his eyes, "im fine" he said, flatly "just thinking".

yangyang leaned his head on his shoulder and instead pushing him off, he let him and ran his hand through his soft brown hair. hendery looked over at the two, chuckled and smiled, "you guys are cute". he shifted towards him and gently lay his head on his shoulder. "not you too", dejun rolled his eyes but you could see the adoration in them.

"OI LOVEBIRDS, THE FIREWORKS ARE STARTING SOON" to the twos disdain, dejun shrugged them off and stood up, brushing the grass and dirt off his jeans. "lets go"

the boys trudged through the muddy plains of the countryside and up hills to find the rest of the group sat along the bay. they walked over to an empty spot on the sand.

sitting down, dejun waited for the fireworks to start. "youre really looking forward to it, huh" he nodded in response. "i havent been to the fireworks in ages".

he looked up to see the first few fireworks flew up into the sky glowing yellow and orange and lighting up the dark canvas that was the sky. they swirled into shapes and spirals before falling down in a shower like waterfalls of light. he looked over at the rest of them and felt a tug on his heartstrings.

as the second batch of fireworks lit up the sky. hendery asked him if he was cold. "kinda" he replied. the former draped a shawl around his shoulders and dejun brought it up to his cupids bow. "thanks" he said before looking up again, basking in the pleasant glow of the light.

yangyang placed a gentle kiss to his a cheek and hendery planted one on his forehead. "happy new year dejun"
