Annabeth didn't like Christmas. She never did.
It was only a reminder of the family that hated her.
The one Christmas she could remember she was forgotten. She spent the one Christmas she could remember, watching her little brothers rip open presents and her parents smiling at them as she sat to the side, seemingly invisible. Christmas was never a good memory for her.
Now all these years later she felt the same way about Christmas. She couldn't bring herself to celebrate it.
When Christmas neared this particular year, Annabeth got more and more nervous about Christmas coming.

She knew how much Percy loved Christmas. She didn't want to tell him how much she didn't enjoy Christmas. She didn't want to break his holiday spirit.
One day Percy asked her about it, he wondered what she wanted to do for Christmas. The second the words left his mouth Annabeth broke down into tears.
Percy freaked out, wondering what he had done wrong. "Annabeth what's wrong?" He said as he hugged her.
She continued to cry into his chest, not being able to put together words.
When she had calmed down she pulled away and wiped her cheeks hoping Percy wouldn't be mad at her. "I-I'm sorry- I never liked Christmas. Whenever I think of Christmas it's just a reminder of my dad and his family. On Christmas I was forgotten as my brothers got all the attention." Annabeth mumbled as she wiped her eyes.
Percy stared at her with sad eyes. "You don't like Christmas because of your dad?"
Annabeth nodded and looked away, embarrassed that such a little thing could make her upset.
Percy gently grabbed her face and turned her towards him. He gave her a small smile. "Annabeth?"
"Yeah?"

"You shouldn't have to hate Christmas because of your dad. He doesn't deserve your company on Christmas." He said as he stroked her cheek with his thumb. "If you let me I wanna give you a nice Christmas. A Christmas to remember." He said with a smile.
A small smile appeared on Annabeth's face. "I'd love that." She said as she pulled him into a hug.
For once she felt excited about Christmas.

Soon enough Christmas Eve came and Percy was excited as ever for what he had planned. For the last month they had binged every Christmas movie possible. They decorated a tree and the rest of Sally's apartment. They made blue reindeer cookies and did whatever they could to get Annabeth in the Christmas spirit.
Percy was more than excited for the things he had got her.
As the month went on more and more presents found themselves under the tree.
When night came Percy found Annabeth standing in front of the tree with a faraway look in her eyes.

Percy came up behind her and hugged her. "What are you thinking about?"
She looked down at the presents and frowned. "I wonder what my dads doing."
"Hey don't think about him. If he's not gonna give you the Christmas you deserve he doesn't deserve you at all."
A small smile formed on her lips. He placed a kiss on her cheek and hugged her tighter. "Let's get to bed. Santa's not gonna come unless we're asleep."
She let out a light laugh. "Yeah I guess you're right."
He grabbed her hand and spun her around, starting his way to his room. "Come on." He said gently.

The next morning Annabeth woke up to the smell of food. She turned in the bed and noticed Percy wasn't there.
She sat up, her heart racing wondering where Percy had went.
"Percy?" She called out. In a few seconds Percy came rushing to the room with a smile on his face.
"You're awake." He said with excitement laced in his voice.

She smiled and climbed out of bed, grabbing his hand and letting her lead him out to the living room. Paul, sally and Estelle sat at the table having breakfast, the foot the color of green. Probably grinch themed.
Estelle's face lit up as she spotted Annabeth. "She's awake! Can we open presents!"
Sally laughed as she calmed down a jumping Estelle. "Just a little longer dear, let Annabeth wake up."
Percy smiled and wrapped his arm around Annabeth's waist. "We were waiting to open presents till you woke up."
"You guys didn't need to wait for me-"
"We couldn't start Christmas without you, Annabeth." Sally said. "You're a part of the family."
The little comment left a warm feeling in Annabeth chest.
Percy smiled as he saw her expression. He placed a small kiss on Annabeth's cheek. "Do you want to open your presents?"
Annabeth smirked and glanced at Estelle, seeing how excited the little girl was. "If Estelle doesn't beat me to it."
As the words left Annabeth's mouth Estelle jumped up in her seat and rushed to the Christmas tree with Annabeth close on her trail.

Percy sat next to Annabeth as the two of them watched Estelle tear open her presents, her face lighting up as she opened up one gift to the next.
Annabeth laughed as Estelle bounced up and down at what she had gotten her.
Percy grabbed her hand and smiled at his girlfriend. "Why don't you open some of your presents?"
"It's Estelle's moment. I'll let her enjoy herself." Annabeth explained. Percy nodded and turned his attention back to his sister, a smile finding its way to his face.
Around ten minutes later Estelle had finished opening presents and was already playing with the toys she got.
Percy encouraged Annabeth to open her presents and she timidly reached forward, grabbing gifts from under the tree. Percy watched as her face lit up as she saw the present unwrapped.
As she opened more and more presents her excitement grew, her mind soon forgetting the terrible Christmas she had all those years ago.
Soon enough all the presents were opened and Percy and Annabeth sat watching Estelle play with her gifts.
"Hey Annabeth?" Percy said.
Annabeth turned to him with a smile on her face. "Yeah?"

"There's one more present for you." Percy said. When she flashed him a confused look he smiled and reached forward to the tree, pulling out a small box shaped gift hidden in the branches.
He sat back and handed it to her, smiling as he did so.
She smirked and opened up the present, untying the neatly done bow. When the wrapping was away it revealed a small box with a fancy font on the top.
Annabeth glanced at Percy with a confused look on her face. She opened up the box and caught her breathe as she saw what was inside. Two rings sat in the small box, both shining new. They were matching silver bands with small words on the top. The words 'I love you, always' engraved on the band.
Annabeth stared at the rings in surprise, not finding words to say. She looked at Percy and saw that trouble maker smirk on his lips. "W-what-"
"They're promise rings." He said simply. He reached forward and grabbed one of the rings. "Its a promise that I'll always be with you, no matter what." He smiled and grabbed her hand, slipping the ring on her finger. "If of course you promise as well." He said with a smirk.

Annabeth's eyes brimmed with tears, her heart filling with joy. She grabbed the other ring and grabbed his hand gently, slipping the ring on his finger. "I promise I'll always be with you, forever." She said. Annabeth reached forward and placed a small kiss on his lips. "I love you so much." She told him. He smiled and pulled her into a hug.
"I love you, took. Merry Christmas Annabeth."
And just like that, as he promised, he gave her what he said he would.
