Percy laid on his bed waiting for Annabeth to come home. It was a long day waiting for his girlfriend to arrive.
She left early this morning for work and didn't plan on coming back for another couple hours.
Percy laid half asleep on the bed, a pencil in his hand from doodling.

Suddenly he heard the door of his apartment slam shut and he jumped. He ran out to the living room to find Annabeth hunched on the couch, tears streaming down her face as she let out heartbreaking sobs.
He knelt in front of her and set gentle hands on her knees. He looked up at her with sad eyes. "What's wrong?"
"I-I-" She sputtered out. She seemed to not be able to put together words.
"Something happen at work?" Percy said in a soft voice.
She nodded and coughed, choking on her own sobs.

Percy pulled her into her lap and held her close. He kissed the top of her head and whispered sweet things into her ear.
Soon enough she stopped crying and she fiddled with Percy's shirt.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled with a guilty look in her eyes.
"You don't need to be sorry. We all have bad days. It's been a long day for you. It's ok to cry." He said in a gentle tone.
"But-"
"No it's ok, Annabeth. No buts." He flashed her a gentle smile. She looked up at him with a pout. "Hey how about you go change into some comfy clothes, I can cook you a nice dinner and then we can go to bed?"

She nodded and smiled. He placed a kiss on her nose before she stood and walked off to their room.
Percy got to work cooking the meal. He tried to keep it simple to have it ready as fast as possible.
A few minutes later Annabeth came out, her face clear of makeup, her hair pulled up into a bun and her outfit made up of sweatpants and a t-shirt. She walked up behind Percy and wrapped her arms around his waist, as he cooked at the stove.
He smiled and grabbed her hand, leaving one to cook the food. "Feeling better?"

She nodded and buried her face into his back. She hummed lightly as Percy continued to cook.
Soon the dinner was finished and they ate together on the floor.
Once they finished they made their way to the bedroom and wrapped themselves in warm blankets.
Percy held her tight and kissed her goodnight before closing his eyes.
Just before he fell asleep he heard a weak sob come from Annabeth. He pulled her close and strokes her hair as she cried into his chest.
"Its ok, Beth. I'm right here." He whispered into her ear."

He drew shapes onto her back and hummed a sweet song. In just a few minutes she was fast asleep, clinging to his shirt.
He glanced down at her. The tears had been wiped away and her face no longer looked hurt. He brushed the hair out of her eyes and admired her face.
He questioned how he got to be so lucky to have her in his life. He wondered why she chose him of all people to be with.

Despite his doubts he was grateful for her.
He knew she would always be there for him. And he would always be there for her, even if she had a bad day.
