"So, what brings you here?" I ask as I have some of my food.
"I just thought it be nice to see you again," she says with a smile.
"Your mother would have been so happy to see you looking this gorgeous."
"Thank you," I hold her hand in mine, " that really means a lot".
"On the other hand, how are you finding university so far?"
"It's alright, I don't have any complaints."
"That's good to hear, any new experiences?"
"Not really it's more of a high school kind of set up the only difference is the way we call some things and that most of us leave on campus."
"That was one of my favorite experiences back when I was in school," she says gazing as she remembers the good old days.
I wonder how life was back then. I would love to go back in time to see her and my mom together. My aunt always reminds me of how her and my mother loved each other all so much. They were basically each other's best friend regardless of them already being sisters.
"Maddie, can you you hear me?"
"I'm sorry what?"
"Did you get anything that I said."
"Oh I'm so sorry I wondered off in my thoughts."
"What's on your mind?"
"Uhm, my mom," I pause, " I really wish she was here."
"I wish for the same," she places her hand on my arm and then beams me a warm smile.
"Has anything unusual been happening lately around here?"
"No," I firmly respond.
"Are you sure about that?"
"Yeah, unless you've heard of something."
"You sound a little bit uncertain."
"Oh I see what's going on here, Jasmine care to explain?" I shoot her with a daring look.
"Oh no nothing," she says as she bites her lip and then faces the other direction.
I know that move, she's lying.
"I cannot believe you, you called my aunt just for this huh?" Seeming a little bit harsh.
"I'm so sorry I panicked, I didn't know what to do, especially when you caught me earlier speaking to her."
"You don't have any right to make decisions for me, okay?" I clarify, " if I wanted her to know I would've told her myself, I think I told you that it's not a big deal and yet you went ahead and start spilling all the beans, and I made it clear too that I will deal with it by myself," I say harshly.
"Maddie she was only trying to-" I cut my aunt off in her aim to defend her.
"Don't you dare try to defend her, isn't that why you even got me the car, you just wanted to butter me up so that I wouldn't be mad at the both of you but unfortunately enough that didn't work out so good for you, did it?"
"I know you're upset Maddie but I was only trying to help you, I would never try to get in your way."
"Well Jasmine I don't need your help, you may go ahead and help someone who's looking for your assistance."
"Maddie please-"
"There's really nothing more that needs to be said, I'm leaving," I say as I grab my keys off the table and walk away instantly.
