I struggle a bit to open my eyes but eventually I do and the first person I see is Jasmine. I feel safe. I watch her as she paces back and forth in my room. I finally call out to her.
"Jasmine, what happened?" Curiosity filled in my voice as I ask her.
"Oh thank goodness your awake," she says in relief as she comes forth to embrace me.
"Hunter brought you here unconscious and he told me that you had been attacked by someone before you fainted," she says clearly wondering why anyone would want to attack me which I don't quite understand myself.
"I don't understand why anyone would want to hurt you Maddie," she adds on.
"Yeah me too," the moment I say that I'm fully aware of the fact that Mel is dead and so I begin to sob.
"Hey hey hey, come here," she says as she pulls me closer to her.
"Mel's dead and it's all my fault Jasmine."
"It's not your fault Maddie people die all the time."
"She warned me, and I didn't listen," I say in between my sobs.
"All I can say is tru your best to just hold on to the memories cause it doesn't get any easier, and that's the only thing that's going to help you get through this dark path," she says sorrowfully as she comforts me.
I know that one day our souls will meet again, I'm honestly glad I had the chance to get to know what a remarkable being she was. I just hope that I'll be able to carry the memories forth as I go ahead in life. I also hope to never forget that she was once a part of my life. I owe it to her. Now the only thing I'm afraid of is what people will say on Monday.
"How are you feeling now?" She asks in concern.
"I feel better."
"That's good to hear, you want me to get you some coffee?"
"No thanks I'm fine."
I really don't want to be a bother to her. She does so much for me already and plus this isn't only about me, it's about her too. Her and Mel were friends too and of course they had they're differences but they at least tried to be friends for me and they mostly got along so I must imagine how she must be feeling too.
"By the way where's Hunter?" I ask with the aim of lightening up the mood.
"He went out to get some medicine and other things that you might need."
"That's really sweet of him."
Soon after, I hear a knock on the door.
" I guess he's already here," she says as she stands up to open the door for him.
"Hey Hunter," she beams him a vibrant smile.
"Hey is Maddie okay?"
"Yeah she's feeling so much better, you can come in," she informs him.
"Thanks."
" I see you've treated the sore on your forehead."
"Yeah fortunately for me, I was able to find someone who was willing to help me clean it up."
"That's nice."
"How come I didn't notice that before?" I ask.
"That's because it happened when I was coming out of the car when we arrived here."
"Oh okay, you're okay though?"
"Yeah I'm fine, it's nothing serious, how are you feeling by the way?"
