"Maddie it's time to go, we're gonna be late!" Jasmine calls for me.
"I'm on my way, give me a sec."
"Took you long enough," she gives off a breath.
"Anyways where are we even going?"
"Ah ah ah don't ruin the surprise you'll know when we get there," she winks at me.
"You do know that I hate surprises right?"
"And you do know that I hate being asked obvious questions right?"
I give off a sarcastic smile.
We get into her car and we drive off. I'm so happy to know that I have Jazz in my life. Ever since my dad left and my mom died in that fire, I always thought that I was destined to be alone. And thus, I always seemed to push people away. I guess it felt like the easiest thing at the time. To convince myself that I'm the one who didn't want or need them . High school was hard enough on it's on yet I had my own demons to fight. Luckily she was there for me all the way through. At least now I know and can even say that my life is somewhat perfect. I have more friends than before. I'm dating the guy of my dreams and I'm going to the university I've always wanted to go to, doing the course I've always wanted to do. For once in my life I can confidently say that everything will work out just the way I would like it to.
"We're here," she cheerfully.
"Wow is this for me?" I say in surprise.
"Yeah," she smiles.
"Thank you it's a really beautiful scenery."
The decorations are really beautiful. They're a lot of black and pink balloons everywhere which I most definitely love. There's a huge and pretty banner saying happy 18th birthday Madison the words in hot pink and the banner in black. I assume the theme is pink and black cause they're my favorite colours. They're neon lights. A chocolate fountain and cheese fountain too. Both sweet and healthy. It's really amazing to see how she did all this.
"You really like it?"
"I love it."
She pulls me tight and embraces me in her warm hug.
"Anyways let's go get this party started."
I look around and all of my friends are here. I'm glad to see that they're all here. All except my boyfriend. I hold on to Jasmine's arm as I ask where Lukah is.
"Uhm I was told that he had already arrived earlier so I'm sure he's somewhere around."
"Oh okay, I'll go look for him."
"Wait before you go aren't you going to say hi to your guests?"
"Oh yah, sorry I got carried away."
" I could tell," she gives me a warm smile.
I greet everyone and they all compliment my dress. It was my mother's, she made it herself as she was a fashion designer. Unfortunately enough, she was unable to wear it and so I held on to it. It's really prettyand the colour is stunning too. Gold. And fits me just right.
"Thank you all so much," I tell them," I'll just head on out, I'll be right back."
I'm hoping to find Lukah soon cause I keep bumping into people are stopping me because they want to talk to me.
I stand still not moving a single inch of my body, clearly mesmerized by what I have just seen. Why did this have to happen? Why now? Can't everything just go-
"Maddie let me explain please just hear me out," I hear a voice amid my thoughts.
A tear escapes my eye unexpectedly. I can't cry. Not here and certainly not now.
