LEE HEESEUNG.  A name that is held in every student's mind. A name so well known that no one questions it, his status in the high school was held higher than the Lotte World Tower. You knew of him the week you started in Enha Academy at most.

Most students knew him the day they joined the school, for he was the school tour guide. But, that was definitely not the main reason he was so known.

Lee Heeseung was known for his looks.  And his talents.  And his kindness.

The fact that he didn't have more admirers than Park Sunghoon completely baffled Suhye.

Suhye was walking to the student council room, heavily regretting her decision. She had gone to the interview earlier in the week, a boy named Yang Jeongin was the only one present.  After a bit of uneasy answers to his questions, Jeongin admitted that she is automatically accepted because they just needed members, but he assured that he thought she'd be perfect for it.

Now, Lee Heeseung, the main school guide... How could she not put the pieces together?

Well, I suppose nothing could've prepared her for the moment she opened the student council door.

And Lee Heeseung was inside.

She was startled at the mere sight of him and it didn't help how he smiled as she entered. Suhye rushed to sit in the only empty chair.

"Okay! We should all be here now, to our friend who just entered... Welcome! You should be... Kang Suhye, right?"

Suhye only nodded back, trying to smile as best as she could. She looked around the room, she didn't see the boy from the interview.

"Great! So I think we should get right into our main talk, the Halloween Dance."

A girl with pink streaks in her hair furious tapped her pen against her clipboard. "As a member of the committee for TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS, I still advocate for advertising it as the 'Halloween Disco' or the 'Halloween Bash'. It brings so much more... flavour! Imagine kids going around the school saying: 'Are you going to the Bash?' We already have the 'Valentine's Dance', let's spice it up!"

Heeseung stood up, writing "NEW NAME" under "IDEAS" on the whiteboard.

He sighed, taking the cap off a purple marker, "You know how it goes, Daehee. All in favour of changing the name for the Halloween Dance, please raise your hand."

Daehee raised her hand, eagerly looking around at the other members. Though everyone seemed to be avoiding eye-contact with the girl. She didn't say anything, but you could see her falter. She crossed out something written on her clipboard.

"Sorry, Daehee. Maybe next--"

Suhye raised her hand. The other committee members stared at her in shock.

"Well isn't that wonderful! Daehee your score of one has become two with our new friend here." Heeseung's phrase might sound sarcastic, but if you heard him in real life, that response was pure sincerity.

Daehee smiled at Suhye, "I'm Choi Daehee and, I think you and I will be good friends."

The meeting went on. Suhye enjoyed it a lot more than she expected.

Halfway through, Heeseung brought out some snacks for the club. Daehee taking about three times her fair share and sharing it with Suhye.

The committee ended up approving having a DJ, the school's most popular band, cookies and candy, a best costume competition and glow sticks. Though some more extravagant ideas got turned down: fake blood slime dunks, bobbing for apples, three-tier cake, a dance battle and a game that had something to do with launching pumpkins.

And as terrible as some of the ideas were, the whole committee laughed together and Heeseung smiled throughout the whole thing.

They had about twenty minutes before they wrapped up, everyone was minding their business and either finishing homework or scribbling down more ideas.

The whole club suddenly looked over to Suhye sitting in the corner drinking her coffee. She looked back at them with curiosity and shock.

A boy named Kang Taehyun asked her, "Suhye? Do you have any ideas?"

"Well... People like dances because they're fun, but also because of the romance element and making new friends right? It's early in the year so I don't think many people will ask each other to the dance. So, what if we added that relationship element?"

She carefully looked around at their reactions, all of their expressions urged her to go on.

"Maybe near the end of the dance, we call out that there's a surprise activity. We should tell everyone to find someone they don't know well and tell them to pair up. Then we get them to dance and talk and the best chemistry between a pair will get crowned--Wait, crowned as soulmates, since it's a chance game. Wait, no they can be crowned as Spook-Mates! Hahah."

The room was silent.

"All in favour of Spook-Mates, please raise your hand."

The silence intimidated Suhye and she just looked at her hands.

"Okay, sorry, Suhye. You were voted out. We are doing Spook-Mates!"

"Sorry... what?"

Daehee elbowed her, "Dummy, you forgot to vote for your own idea, everyone else raised their hands."

Suhye smiled wide, not believing the circumstances.

Heeseung gave her a thumbs-up, "Suhye, I think that it could use some polishing, but it's an amazing idea. Well done, I think I can say this for all of us, but, we're happy to have you on the team."

Everyone smiled and gave her more thumbs-ups, maybe this could be her thing.
