This one was a story I did on my own using the prompt 'I always wanted to see my mother again, I just never imagined it would be like this' from voidcrimsonsky's first Crazy Writing Prompt book! I suggest you check it out if you have writer's block 'cause it's got some pretty great ones! It accidentally got really creepy, and I surprised myself with my horror story abilities. When I read it to my sister, she said that I could be an anime voice actor because my voice for the mother sounded like Toga from BNHA. I'm really proud of it, but again, it got creepy and dark. I myself can't handle that much gore, so there's not a lot, but there is some in here. I don't want to soil to much, but there is death. Like, someone dies, so... Just a quick warning!
I always wanted to see my mother again, I just never imagined it would be like this.
"I hadn't wanted this to happen! It wasn't supposed to go like this! There was a plan, it just hadn't worked out right!" Tears welled in my eyes as I observed the mess around me, "This is all wrong!"
My mother put her hands on my shoulders from her place behind me. "Everything happens for a reason," she said calmly, as though my entire world hadn't just been flipped upside down.
I turned to face her, shoving her off me as I did. I was confused at how and why she had suddenly appeared, but my rage overshadowed it. "Then what was the reason for this!" I screamed, flinging my hands toward the beaten =, dead body in front of us. My beaten, dead body.
My body.
Dead.
My stomach twisted, reviled at this realization, and I could feel the bile rise in my throat.
My eyes, blank.
My skin, pale and cold.
My lips, slowly turning blue.
My lungs, still, never to draw another breath.
My blood, spilling from the deep wounds ripped across my flesh and out into a puddle on the ground.
My heart, stopped, never to beat life into my body ever again.
Just laying there, right in front of me.
"I can see you need some time," my mother said, her voice sweet and calm. Sickly sweet. Eerily calm. "It's always hard transitioning."
I finally tore my eyes away from my own demise, locking eyes with her. Her eyes were wrong. There seemed to be a glitter of triumph, a small spark of victory in her eyes.
"Why- how are are you talking about this like- like I'm changing schools! Like we're just moving away! I'm dead! I died!" I screamed, my throat dry and raw.
"Because it is just another transition, just another stage of life," she said, reaching out to embrace me, "Now come here. It's been too long."
I moved out of her reach. She didn't miss a beat, continuing to move toward me, arms outstretched. This somehow wasn't right. Something was off about her. It was more like a sinister snake ready to squeeze its prey to suffocation rather than a mother comforting her child.
This time, as she moved towards me, I smacked her hands away from me. She stopped, a look of shock present on her face. But in an instant her emotions changed. In waves her fury crashed upon the shore of her features, starting with a small frown, and then larger with her eyes, until her whole being was overcome with rage.
"How dare you! I've waited so long to see you again, and then you push me away like I'm nothing! It's so special that I found you directly after you died. Families can take years to find each other after death, some never even get reunited! But I got that chance, and I took it! I finally get to have you with me again, and you're not going to ruin it for me! I've been waiting for you, now come and give me a hug! Let me hold my baby again!"
Then something clicked together in my mind. "What do you mean you got your chance and you took it? How did you know I had died?" My death had been a gruesome surprise to me, it didn't make sense that she had known. And it definitely didn't add up to what she had just said. The more I thought about it, the more suspicious I became. She had just appeared out of nowhere, and, conveniently, right as I died, where I died.
The change in her eyes became more prevalent, and she smiled a strange smile that struck fear into my heart.
She clapped her hands together, "Oh, that's simple! I've been watching over you, my dearest one, making sure your safe. Making sure I don't miss a second of you. I wanted to be there every moment of your life, and death wasn't going to stop me from getting that."
She said it in a way that sent shivers down my spine, and made me want to run away any way I could, as fast as I could.
"But, after a while, it wasn't enough to just watch you anymore. I wanted to hold you, to keep you safe with me, so that no one could separate us ever again."
My eyes widened. I had always seen my mother as a beautiful person. She had always been a safe place I could always turn to, even after she had died. But the woman in front of me was creepy and desperate, nothing like how I remembered.
She looked me dead in the eye and laughed.
"So I made a plan to bring you back to me!"
My mind stopped.
"I made sure you were killed, dearest. Nice and dead, just for me!"
I warned you, creepy. Actually, absolutely terrifying.
-Peace out my dudes, and sorry for any nightmares you might have. ✌️
