So, for my ELA project this quarter, we have to do reflections on how our life is like with the Corona outbreak and stuff. I made my first entry really funny (to me at least), and I thought that the world could use it right now. So, here you go.

March 30, 2020

So this is the first entry for my COVID-19 journal. For my first entry, I thought it would best to provide some background information on what life is like right now. It started in China, and in America, to students, it was the center of attention. Jokes were made, facts were told, and many laughed. There were those crazy people who worried that it might reach us, but for the most part, everyone was incredulous that it could travel across an ocean to us. We all had trust that China would contain it, and we would all be safe. Boy, oh boy were we wrong. It soon reached America, after infecting Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Italy along the way. When it finally hit, the people were sent into a panic, which is still continuing at this moment. We have to social distance now, staying 6 feet away from each other, or simply locking ourselves in our homes. People are raiding stores, taking both necessary and unnecessary items in their panic. Hand sanitizer, gone. Hand soap, nothing. Non- perishable food, missing. Toilet paper, non existent. While the retail industry prospers, restaurants struggle to survive in the wilderness that is the coronavirus outbreak. Social distancing means that people can no longer come inside and enjoy themselves, eating and drinking happily. Restaurants are forced to serve via drive thru or take-out. Thankfully, the public is not used to eating at home, and soon get tired of their canned corn and spam, finally freeing themselves from their comfy prisons to search for some Kentucky Fried Chicken, or a Crunchy Taco. Schools shut down, leaving our youth to be educated from the comfort of their homes. In the beginning, many think of this as a blessing. Not having to get ready in the morning? Learning in your pajamas? Being able to get a snack whenever you want? It's the dream of every student. But, students quickly discover that this is a curse, after having to be cooped up in their houses, their only human interaction with their parents, guardians or siblings. They are no longer able to share jokes with their friends, talk about that one time that someone got stuck upside down on a swing, or annoy their bestest friends to the point of infinite fury. There is no longer a lunch time where students can trade their snacks with each other, or steal something from everyone else's lunchbox. There is no more playing outside and "accidentally" throwing balls at each other, no more telling the younger grades the truth about who the teacher's favorite class is, no more complaining about how much students hate school. All the things students take for granted are now out of reach, forever unable to relish in until the corona decides it has finished spreading panic and misery to the world. People can no longer go outside to amusement parks, theaters, bowling, or even to hobbies such as martial arts class. Thankfully, we have social media and the internet, so all hope is not lost for the masses. We can still share memes with each other and watch adorable cat videos. Even if we cannot see each other in reality, we can still talk with each other virtually. And thus, life continues. The world outside is shut down, but the world inside of our homes continues, even if it is at a slow, groggy-just-woke-up pace. People continue to talk with each other, students continue to learn, and stores continue to be raided. And such is how the COVID-19 outbreak has so far affected my community, and I believe many other communities around the country, and possibly, the globe. I hope that, wherever and whenever you are reading this, you learn the severity of this, and do not make the same mistakes we made by joking and jinxing ourselves, raiding stores, and taking school for granted.

Finished 11:55 March 30, 2020. A Monday.

I hope you enjoyed, and if you think I'm good at humor and want more, or you would like me to write something else, I'm up for it! Just tell me!

-Peace out my dudes. ✌️
