Wearing a graduation gown with the cap has been my dream since I got into college. Everyone was around, my friends and family and it was all smiles and hugs.
The sun was hot, meaning that the rain that's going to fall at the end of the day or at night I going to be heavy, Nigerian weather is that confusing.
I'm so happy that I chose a simple dress to wear and minimal make up so I don't have to be worrying about smudging my make up or the fact that I'm sweating so much.
The gown is a simple blue sleeveless dress, allows little cleavage to show and the skirt which was flair stopped above my knee, I was wearing silver heels with it.
"Victoria!" I heard my name so I turned around.
A girl I recognized as Esiri who we attended the same fellowship as me was waving at me as she made her way over to me.
"Hey congratulations," she pulled me to a hug.
"Congratulations," I returned her hug.
"Come over, some of us are taking pictures," she pulled me and I followed.
We weren't that close but she's an interesting person and we related well.
Some group of people were huddled up by a tree, some I recognized and some I didn't and one of the people I recognized was Temi, the guy that was trying to ask me out the other day, it's a year now but it feels like so long ago.
I joined them to take pictures, smiling, laughing and wgen i had decides I had had enough I stalled back and watched, Temi decided it was time to say hello.
"How have you been, it's been a while," he started standing awfully close to me.
I stepped back and smiled stiffly, "I've been fine, you?"
He stepped closer, "I've been great. How wa-"
"There you are babe I've been looking for you, we're ready to go," Andrew suddenly appeared and placed his hand on the small of my back. He looked at Temi and he smirked, "oh it's you, I'm Andrew I don't think I properly introduced myself before." An arm was outstretched for a hand shake.
Temi smiled, obviously fake and shook his hand, "Temi, nice to meet you."
Andrew nodded and looked back at me, "you ready babe?"
I looked at Temi and he looked ready for the earth to swallow him. I nodded and wove at Temi, "nice seeing you again Temi, bye."
He nodded and wove before turning around. I followed Andrew wordlessly to where our parents were standing, sadly Ana had gone back to Chicago but Grace was around.
A few hours after we were at Andrew's house and the party had begun. A few other people who were our course mates and friends that lived in Lagos were around.
All ten of us stood in front of the house and we began to take pictures, in groups and individually. After taking pictures we went back inside and joined the party.
Sometime during the party I went up to Andrew's room and stood by his balcony, a glass half filled with wine in my hand as I stared out into space. I needed the space from the music and crowd downstairs and Andrew's room was the best place.
I heard the room door open and close then footsteps which slowly got closer.
"I just knew you'd be here," he said before hugging me from behind, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to him.
"You know me," I rose my glass before pressing it to my lips and drinking the last of its contents.
"Fuck I love you," he said with his face buried in the crook of my neck.
