Chapter 24

Finn's POV

My heart was going crazy, my palms were sweaty as hell. God, why am I so nervous?

Because you're gonna pop the question, idiot.

Right.

I dusted the crumbs off my fingers and started to sip my wine.
Alex was only half way through her sandwich and was gazing at the night sky. She doesn't even know what she does to me, the way she smiles, the way she talks, the way she does everything. It makes me feel as though I'm the luckiest person alive. Yes, if you didn't know I was that cheesy, well now you know.

Pretty soon she finished her sandwich and she dusted the crumbs off her fingers. She reached for her glass and our eyes made contact. She was staring straight into my eyes and I know that she had already gotten lost in them. I smirked on the inside but continued to sip my wine slowly while searching her beautiful brown eyes. She must've finally 'woken up' because she started to blush. She looked away, trying to hide that cute little blush of hers but no such luck. I gave her a smirk and she quickly turned away from me again. Why's she so cute?

Look what she's done to you, Finn! For goodness sake...

I finished up the wine and leaned back, looking at her and hoping she wouldn't state back at me right now because I'd most probably look like a pedophile.

She finished her wine and placed the glass down. She played with her fingers during the awkward silence between us. I took a deep breath and cleared my throat. She looked up at me with a puzzled look.
I gave her a weak smile and pushed myself off the chair.

You can do this Finn.

I reached out for her hand and she took it gladly, never taking that curious look off her face.

Thank god I had everything planned.

I put my phone into the speakers on the table and it played 'thinking out loud' by Ed Sheeran.

Perfect.

"May I have this dance?" I asked with a smirk, hoping to be able to hide the anxiousness I'm feeling on the inside.

She chuckled, "why not?"

She placed her hand in mine and wrapped her other hand around my neck. I took her hand and placed the other one gently on her back. We started dancing to the lyrics and she kept smiling, causing me to smile to.

"But baby now, take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Place your hand through my beating heart, thinking out loud... Maybe we found love right where we are."

I spun her around and she giggled. We danced as if we were professionals but I'm pretty sure we were looking pretty damn stupid but who cares?

I'm having a good time. And I'm pretty sure she is too. I mean it's pretty obvious since she's busy either laughing or giggling or smiling throughout. We did a final pose after the song ended. She giggled and sat on the grass.

"That was fun," she smiled.
"Yea?"
"Yea," she nodded.

It's time.

"Alex?"
"Hmm?"
"Will you... will you be my... girlfriend?"
She gasped and covered her mouth.
"Oh my god, Finn." I can hear her muffled voice. I smiled and prayed on the inside that she'd say yes.

She removed her hands from her mouth.
