nobody knows you
the way that i know you

there was screaming next door. elle was unhappy with someone on the phone. leilani had a clue who, but finally figured it out when she yelled, "alex please just stop calling her!"

of course it was alex. she had to get him off her mind. of course, karl, clay, and wilbur were coming but they were going to be loud. it was a trio she didn't really expect, thinking that if anyone would fly out to her it'd be schlatt, niki, and george, but she wasn't complaining. she also figured karl wanted to meet alex again, and she wouldn't mind if he did that.

glancing at the clock, she realized she had to leave to pick up karl and clay. they flew in together, while wilbur would have a little more trouble because of the travel ban but (hopefully) would make it since well, as much as she hated him sometimes, he was one of her bestfriends. he had to be, he was literally her cousin.

halfway to the airport, leilani was really starting to miss alex. alexis was like her other half, and held her when she was stressed. he was truly her bestfriend, even above elle. those two years weren't a waste and she wanted him back. but that wouldn't be a good idea, would it?

realizing she completely zoned out, she pulled into the airport parking lot and walked in. it always felt like forever walking thru, and her phone was blowing up, meaning the boys were probably here.
she walked to their terminal, looking everywhere but nothing seeing them. then she heard the wheeze. 'oh for fucks sake,' the girl thought, but turned around anyways.

clay was 6'3. leilani was hardly even 4'11. this was just such a sad sight to see. regardless, she ran over to the boys and engulfed them into a hug. even if this was her second time meeting karl, she hugged him like they never met. he always gave the most comforting hugs. "you are so much shorter in person!" dream exclaimed. "thats exactly what i said," the shorter boy said in a laugh, both of them earning an eye roll from lani.

"how long until wilbur gets here?" karl questioned, about a quarter away from home. this was the third time he's asked. "we still don't even know if he's on the plane yet," was the response he got. what nobody noticed was lani's sharp breath as they passed alex's street. or as they passed the place they had their first date, or the one when they passed their high school. honestly, leilani didn't know if she would ever be okay without him. and that thought hurt her a lot.

nevertheless, they made it to her apartment safe & sound. michelle's car was gone, but it didn't bother leilani much. they hadn't talked much since the breakup, but that was leilanis fault. after a few hours, the boys and lani decided it was time to sleep, and so she posted on instagram and fell asleep in her bed, karl on the floor and clay on the couch.
